Ernest G. "Ernie" Drake, Jr. was a judge on the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal. He was first elected in 2013 for a term that expired on December 31, 2014.[1] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015, that would have expired on December 31, 2024.[2][3] He retired in 2016 and was succeeded by Allison H. Penzato.

Education

Drake earned a B.S. from Southeastern Louisiana University and his J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 1974.[4]

Career

After graduation, Drake practiced law with Allen B. Pearson Jr. for six years until he formed his own firm with his sister and others. He continued this practice for 24 years until his election to the 21st Judicial District.[4]

Drake served as judge in the 21st Judicial District until 2013, when he was elected (unopposed) to fill the vacancy created by Jefferson Hughes' election to the Louisiana Supreme Court.[5]
