I was born and have lived all my life in Nebraska. I have been involved in education for over 40 years, working in Nebraska public and private K- 12 schools, as an Administrator of an Education Quest grant, and within

higher education. Working in the trenches daily as a School Counselor has provided insight into the "REAL" issues students, and families face regarding higher education in Nebraska. I am a candidate who is knowledgeable, passionate, and determined to spend time on the university campuses to ensure the best learning environment is available to Nebraskans. I am running for this elected position because I believe Nebraskans deserve to have an experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate educator serving on a board that determines the direction of higher education in Nebraska.

  • Education has always been Nebraska's greatest resource, and I want to ensure that the higher education staff, curriculum, and instructional practices align with the values and integrity of Nebraskans.
  • Keeping tuition and fees at a reasonable cost is vital. I I am intent on working towards aligning tuition costs with minimum wage.
  • My third goal is to recruit and maintain Nebraska students to study and seek jobs in their hometown Nebraska communities. Working towards creating and implementing an education/business partnership pipeline is vital for local Nebraska growth.
I am concerned about the transparency of the university system's actions, policies, and
procedures. Consistency and clarity of criteria must be established in the process of awarding merit-based scholarships as well as other scholarships. In addition, I want to ensure that the freedom of speech is upheld for all students in all areas of the university system and that the staff and instructional practices of the higher education system reflect the values of Nebraskans.
