I was born and raised in small town Manchester in Adams County; I understand the unique challenges faced by our community. I currently reside in Manchester, Ohio with my spouse and young son. With an entirely neurodivergent family, I have a unique perspective on topics about ableism, inclusivity, social justice and staying true to yourself. I look forward to putting this perspective to work for the citizens of District 90.
  • Transparency. I believe in open and honest communication with my constituents. I am committed to providing transparent information and maintaining integrity throughout my entire campaign process, ensuring citizens feel informed and engaged.

The office of the representative serving the 90th district provides various services to its constituents. This direct service aspect underscores the importance of the office in supporting the district's residents.

The office of the 90th district’s representative serves as a vital link between the state government and the district’s communities. Through town halls, public meetings, and other engagement activities, the representative can gather feedback and keep constituents informed about legislative matters, fostering a participatory approach to governance.
I look up to so many individuals it would be difficult to go through them all. So many inspiring activists and artists have influenced me and my goals. Some of them famous, some of them just creating their content the way they know how and advocating for what is right. A combination of various teachers, therapists, doctors and scientists just doing what they do. Humanity is the example that I follow, and so many individuals take the credit for that.

A great elected official embodies a blend of personal character attributes, professional principles, and a dedication to serving the public interest above all.

Honest and ethical behavior is foundational. Elected officials should adhere to high moral principles, ensuring their actions are transparent and accountable.

The ability to inspire, motivate, and guide others towards achieving common goals is crucial. Effective leadership also involves making tough decisions in challenging circumstances.

Understanding and caring about the needs, struggles, and aspirations of constituents is critical. These traits allow officials to serve in the best interests of their communities.

Being an excellent communicator is key. This includes listening to constituents, articulating policies and positions clearly, and using dialogue to bridge divides.

Officials must accept responsibility for their actions and decisions, being answerable to the public for fulfilling their obligations and commitments.

The ability to adjust to changing circumstances and bounce back from setbacks is essential. A resilient official can navigate the complexities of governance and policy-making.

A thorough understanding of the issues, laws, and procedures relevant to their office is necessary. Continuous learning and professional development are parts of this competency.

A genuine commitment to serving others and improving the community should be the driving force behind an elected official's career. This involves prioritizing the public good over personal or partisan interests.

The bravery to stand up for what is right, even in the face of opposition, and the courage to admit mistakes are invaluable in an elected official.

While vision is necessary, practical and realistic approaches to problem-solving ensure that policies can be implemented effectively and are sustainable over the long term.
I am empathetic, kind, and I believe in a just and sustainable world. I believe those dreams that we have of a better world are reachable, and I plan to do anything and everything in my power to do so.
State representatives are primarily tasked with crafting, debating, reviewing, and voting on legislation that affects their state. This involves understanding the nuanced needs and interests of their constituents and ensuring these are considered in the legislative process.

They act as a voice for the residents of their district in the state legislature, representing their views, concerns, and needs. This responsibility requires them to stay connected with their constituents through regular communication, town halls, and other outreach efforts.

Representatives should champion policies that benefit their district, whether these involve infrastructure projects, education, healthcare, economic development, or other areas vital to the well-being of their constituents. They may work to secure funding or legislative support for these initiatives.

Engaging with the community to understand its challenges and successes is vital. This can include attending local events, organizing public meetings, and maintaining an accessible presence in the district. Representatives should also provide support and assistance in navigating state services, such as help with health care, education, and unemployment benefits.

State representatives play a role in the state budget process, advocating for financial decisions that benefit their district while ensuring responsible management of state resources.

Keeping constituents informed about relevant legislative developments, policy changes, and available services is a key duty. Representatives should also educate their constituents about how they can engage with and participate in the political process.

Representatives must be adaptable and prepared to address a wide range of issues, balancing immediate constituent needs with the long-term interests of the state and its residents. Their effectiveness is often measured by their ability to navigate the complexities of state governance while staying true to the needs of their constituents.
I would like to leave this world better than I came into it. A more kind, and together sort of world.
I think the only one of note that I really was old enough to remember or was informed about was the start of the pandemic, and the insurrection. I was 24.
My first tax paying job was at a public pool, "Paradise Breeze" in Maysville Ky. I worked there for two summers when I was 14/15 as a concession stand cashier. Before that I worked construction occasionally with my father.
I love so many books, this question is very hard. In my top five are "I'm Glad my Mom Died" by Jeanette McCurdy, Slewfoot by Brom, The Ballad of Frankie Silver by Sharyn McCrumb, Grimms Fairy Tales complete collection and the Hunger Games.
The theme song for the new Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur animated series.
Poverty and chronic illness. We didn't have much growing up and not enough to focus on wellness that's for sure. This is part of the reason I advocate for quality and accessible healthcare.
Effectively representing the views and interests of the constituents in the legislative process is central to a legislator's responsibilities. Understanding the needs, concerns, and aspirations of the people within the district and giving them a voice in the state legislature is critically important.

Providing assistance to constituents who face issues with state agencies, have questions about state policies, or need help accessing public services is a direct way representatives serve their community. This aspect of the role is crucial for addressing the immediate needs and concerns of constituents.

Keeping constituents informed about legislative developments, listening to their feedback, and being accessible through town halls, meetings, and other forums are vital for maintaining a healthy, engaged, and informed constituency. This fosters a strong, responsive, and democratic governance process.

Taking leadership on issues that are of particular importance to the district or the representative’s areas of expertise, by not only introducing and supporting relevant legislation but also advocating for these issues to be prioritized at the state level, is another key responsibility. This might include focusing on education, infrastructure, health care, environmental protection, or any other area of public concern.
Much of the significant work of legislators happens in committee meetings, which are smaller groups focused on specific areas such as finance, education, or health. Committees review bills, hold hearings, and make amendments before a bill goes to the full chamber for a vote. The detailed work in committees significantly shapes legislation and policy outcomes.

Legislators can introduce amendments to bills being considered on the floor of the legislature, which can significantly alter the bill’s content and impact. This power allows legislators to refine, strengthen, or redirect legislation according to evolving discussions, new information, or constituent feedback.

Apart from bills that create or change laws, legislators can propose resolutions, which may express the legislative body’s opinion or decision on various matters. These can range from memorializing individuals, recognizing achievements, to urging Congress or other entities to take specific actions. While they may not have the force of law, they can influence public policy and highlight important issues.

Beyond helping constituents navigate state services, legislators can advocate on behalf of their constituents with state agencies or on broader policy issues. This might involve pushing for a constituent's case to be expedited or resolved or advocating for policy changes that would benefit their district.
I do not find it necessary, no. Individuals without a background in politics or government might bring new perspectives and innovative solutions to longstanding problems, potentially refreshing the policy-making process. Newcomers may be less likely to be bound by existing political alliances or debts, potentially making it easier for them to make decisions based on their merits rather than on established political agreements or expectations.

In some contexts, candidates without a political background may be perceived as more genuine or relatable by the public, particularly during times when there is widespread distrust in career politicians.

People from non-political backgrounds often bring diverse experiences from other sectors, such as business, science, education, or the arts, which can enrich policy discussions and decision-making processes.
The ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, and effectively with constituents, colleagues, and the media is essential. This includes public speaking, writing, and utilizing digital platforms.

Much of politics involves finding common ground among diverse stakeholders. Skills in negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution can lead to more effective compromise and collaboration.

Legislators are often faced with complex issues that require careful analysis. The ability to think critically, evaluate evidence, and consider various perspectives is crucial for making informed decisions.

While individual initiative is important, the nature of legislative work often requires leading or being part of teams. Leadership skills help in guiding discussions, initiatives, or committees, whereas teamwork skills are essential for collaborating with others towards common goals.

Understanding the specific needs, challenges, and opportunities within the representative’s district is crucial. Experience in local government or community organizations can provide valuable insights into these aspects.

Familiarity with issues such as healthcare, education, environment, and social welfare is advantageous. This enables representatives to effectively address the wide range of concerns that impact their constituents.

A successful legislator typically doesn't need to be an expert in all these areas but having a strong foundation in several, complemented by the willingness to learn and adapt, can make a significant difference in their ability to serve effectively. Additionally, tapping into the expertise of others and working collaboratively with experts and stakeholders in various fields are also key strategies for addressing complex legislative issues.
I used to play piano by ear, but now I use my hands.
I do not have any official endorsements as of yet. My primary is uncontested.
I advocate for detailed disclosures of all government spending, allowing the public to see where every penny is allocated. This includes breakdowns of budgets for defense, healthcare, education, infrastructure projects, and more. The goal is to prevent corruption and ensure funds are used effectively.

Open Data Initiatives: These initiatives involve making all government data available to the public in accessible formats unless there's a compelling privacy or security reason not to. This data can include anything from traffic patterns and crime statistics to detailed financial records and government contracts. The idea is to empower citizens and promote innovation and accountability through widespread access to information.

Participatory budgeting: This is a process that allows citizens to participate directly in the allocation of part of the public budget. It ensures that government spending aligns with the community's priorities and needs, leading to more democratic and equitable outcomes.

Robust, independent bodies tasked with monitoring government actions and financial transactions. These bodies would have the power to investigate, audit, and, if necessary, prosecute mismanagement or corruption without political interference.

Strong protections for whistleblowers who expose corruption, waste, or fraud within the government are viewed as essential for accountability. This involves legal safeguards to prevent retaliation, ensuring those who come forward with information can do so without fear of losing their jobs or facing harassment.

Campaign Finance Reform: Strict limits on campaign contributions and full transparency regarding who is funding political campaigns. The goal is to prevent wealthy individuals and corporations from having an outsized influence on politics and policy, ensuring a fairer and more democratic system.
