The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Roger Hernandez (D) and Joe M. Gardner (R) defeated Mike Meza (I) in the blanket primary. Hernandez defeated Gardner in the general election.[1][2][3]
