Campaign themes

2016

Bowman's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]

  • Rights and Liberties

All citizens of Colorado must have the same rights and liberties. I will fight to restrict government interference and to preserve personal liberty.

  • Second Amendment

I will defend the Second Amendment. I will vote to repeal the high capacity magazine ban. As the former President of the Colorado State Shooting Association, I fought to decriminalize the right to carry concealed firearms.

  • Education

Let teachers teach! Teachers are trained professionals and we should let them do their jobs. I support the right of parents to choose where their children are educated. I oppose federal interference in how our children are educated.

  • Labor

I will work to improve the business climate so that new and high paying jobs will be attracted to Colorado. There is a place for unions. However, public employee unions buying off politicians with contributions are not in the best interest for the citizens of Colorado.

  • Transportation

Did you know that you spend about 45 cents per gallon of gasoline on state tax and about 37 cents per gallon on federal tax? Although we spend 82 cents per gallon in taxes, our roads are falling apart. I would vote to spend money on improving roads rather than subsidizing mass transit and alternative fuel vehicles.[3]
