Growing up in the 1980s, Shaun saw the pain of that farm crisis and is determined to prevent another generation from suffering the same loss. For years he's worked hard as Chair of the Finance committee in Richland County to level the playing field and provide greater support for farmers, small business owners, and everyday working people. His record shows he will stand his ground against powerful interests in a fair and transparent manner. We need a representative who will work hard for residents at the capitol. If elected to represent Assembly District 49, Shaun will collaborate with people of all political backgrounds to ensure state government is working for rural areas.
  • Small Farms: The legislature is helping large livestock operations get bigger, as illustrated by their recent attempt to expedite the permitting process for large livestock farms. Shaun will support programs that put more money in the pockets of small farmers.
  • Small Schools: The legislature has focused only on a Band-Aid solution to address dropping school enrollment. To increase school enrollment, we must create more economic activity, which will improve our quality of life and attract more young families to rural Wisconsin.
  • Small Towns: The legislature has focused on providing benefits to wealthy investors through the manufacturing tax credit. Shaun will support tax credits that put more money in the pockets of rural residents.
My top priority is to revitalize small farms, schools, and towns. In these areas, our district experiences decline; farm numbers are falling (20% in 20 years), student enrollment is dropping (7% since 2005), and population is decreasing (since 2010). As a Richland County Board Supervisor, I know how to make government work to address these challenges. I will use my experience to build a coalition of people who will change our laws and tax structure to get results for hardworking rural people.
