Campaign themes

2014

Rohan's website has emphasized the following campaign themes:[2]

Defending Conservatives Values;
  • Thelma’s Christian values demand that she support Right to Life from conception to natural death and the idea that virtue and a civil society are the pillars of freedom.
  • Thelma supports the Florida law that marriage is between one man and one woman.
  • Thelma believes that respecting and honoring faith and family is the foundation for freedom.

Stopping ObamaCare; Thelma believes it will up to the states legislators to design and implement a health plan for their states citizens, such as;

  • Block grant the Medicare and Medicaid monies to states and let those who are closest the problem manage the programs.
  • Instruct state insurance commissioners to allow health insurance companies from all states to market their products across state lines.
  • Introduce legislation to implement Tort Reform.

By limiting liabilities on the health care industry,ᅠproviding opportunities for expanding private health insurance options, and opting out of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare); we can achieve a far more accessible and affordableᅠhealth care system with a free enterprise that willᅠgrow and flourish the medical industry; an industry that we all depend on.

Opposing Common core;

  • Thelma a former School Board Member says “curriculum belongs at the local level, not with an overbearing and uncaring Federal Bureaucracy”. Common Core is a set of public educational standards, developed by special interests in Washington D.C. and supported by liberal organizations.
  • Thelma immediately after being sworn-in would co-sponsor with Representative Debbie Mayfield’s legislation HB 25 that would put the brakes on the speed with which Florida is headed toward Common Core. Thelma believes that K-12 public education and curriculum development belong at the local level with parents and teachers.

Lower taxes, Less Government;

  • Thelma believes that limited government can help create an environment for all people to prosper morally and economically, she will be prudent and thrifty in the allocation of tax receipts from the citizens of Florida, and implement a program to rid our state government of waste and fraud.

Thelma is a supporter of the recently passed resolution (Memorial H218) which notifies the President, Speaker of House of Representatives and The Leader of the Senate that Florida Legislature has voted to support HR25 the Fairtax act of 2013 and to abolish the IRS and to repeal the 16th amendment.[3]
