Martin Flynn (Democratic Party) (also known as Marty) is a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, representing District 22. He assumed office on June 9, 2021. His current term ends on November 30, 2026.

Flynn (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the Pennsylvania State Senate to represent District 22. He declared candidacy for the Democratic primary scheduled on May 19, 2026.[source]

Biography

Martin Flynn was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Flynn graduated from Scranton Preparatory School in 1994. He earned a B.S. in legal studies from Marywood University. Flynn's career experience includes working as a Lackawanna County Prison guard and inmate education/program coordinator, a mixed martial arts fighter, and a professional boxer.[1][2]

Elections for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 11, 2014. Incumbent Martin Flynn defeated Lee Briane Morgan in the Democratic primary, while Marcel Lisi was unopposed in the Republican primary. Flynn defeated Lisi in the general election.[7][8][9]

“ Excerpt: "Flynn is in favor of protecting labor union rights, believes increased regulation of landlords in urban areas is needed to stop blight and supports greater efforts to fight crime. He is opposed to further state budget cuts in social services and senior citizen programs and against the privatization of the Pennsylvania Lottery and also opposes selling the state liquor store system. He does not believe state education dollars should be diverted toward school vouchers. He favors a severance tax on natural gas drillers instead of an impact fee and believes the revenue should go toward public schools."[11] ”
