Candidate Connection

Ben Griffin completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Griffin's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1. Serving God 2. Serving the people 3. Maintaining integrity no matter the cost

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Right to Life - Abortion is not just a blight on society because it's murder. It has also long perpetuated a myth that we are born without purpose and life itself is meaningless. From this comes many of societies current problems that we are facing. If we want to build a better tomorrow we have to start loving each other as God loves us. Civil Liberties - When tragedy or societal ills occur (often as a result of the culture shift we've seen) certain members of our government leap to restrict constitutional rights and raise taxes. Even worse, they convinced many members of our nation that this is somehow the solution to the problems we're facing. Families First - Almost half of U.S. births now occur outside of marriage. Study after study has shown that a two parent traditional household is the defining trait in a child's success. It determines his or her education, self-worth and even the rate at which crime is committed. We need to incentivize marriage again and put our focus on raising not only families, but a better America.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

The Bible

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

A Representative's job is to do what is right and serve his district to the best of their his abilities. It is of the upmost importance to have moral courage on all issues and prioritize doing what is good and just over what might help for a potential re-election.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To maintain moral courage, have a heart that desires to serve and be steadfast in the principals that make this country great.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

Yes - everyone should be treated respectfully and it's in everyone's best interest to always try to work well with others.

What process do you favor for redistricting?

Redistricting that gives proper representation to the voters within a district as opposed to redistricting that gives on side or the other a distinct political advantage.
