Eileen Dordek is a proven and tireless advocate whose roots are deep in the 13th District. She lives, works, volunteers and is raising her family in the District, which includes Uptown, Bowmanville, Budlong Woods, Lincoln Square, Ravenswood, and parts of Andersonville and Lakeview. As a licensed social worker and a proven advocate, Eileen has spent her life serving others and advocating for the rights of women, families, and the LGBTQ community.
  • Ensuring Illinois continues to lead in reproductive freedom.
  • Advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights.
  • Address mental health issues through better funding and coordination of services.
Securing reproductive freedom for all Illinoisans and addressing inequity in access to reproductive healthcare.

Actionable mental health initiatives.

Housing insecurity and homelessness.

Creating enough economic security and community health so that public safety for all is achievable.
Listening is the most important thing a politician can do because there is no other way to have your finger on the pulse of your community. I think this is essential for good representation. The power of certain offices makes some elected officials forget the importance of listening, but I have been trained to be a professional listener and I look forward to using that skill in office every day.
I have experience advocating for issues at the forefront of the conversation in Springfield and relationships gained over years of work pushing for more reproductive freedom for all in Illinois. As a licensed clinical social worker, I know that the problem's in people's lives need more than just one layer of government listening to and helping them and I know by combining my professional listening with my networking and advocacy experience I can help a lot of people in the 13th district. I am not someone looking to do this job to make myself famous or more well-known in the halls of power. I want to work to help my community and the people of Illinois.
My first job was at Sarah's Circle, a non-profit that focuses on helping women with housing insecurity. I worked there for two years and I went on to become a member of their board after that. I have stayed involved with Sarah's Circle through the years and my experience there inspired me to get my graduate degree in social work.
Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, because The main character is a strong woman who perseveres despite the restrictions of her day. I never get sick of it.
Beatrice from Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, because she was an early feminist and a tough cookie.
Having an understanding of the logistics of the daily functioning of Springfield can be of great benefit for someone trying to create change. Government isn't any different than any other human institution and you need to get a feel for the people there to best get to common ground.
Barbara Flynn Currie for her tenacity and ability to move important legislation, but also her thorough understanding of the issues of the day and her kindness and patience for all of her constituents.
While out doorknocking I met a single mom whose daughter goes to school in the district. This neighbor of mine cannot drive her daughter to school because of a health condition. She worries about crime and keeping her daughter safe. I am extremely motivated to address this neighbor's issues and hopefully provide her some relief.
I know a girl with one leg shorter than the other.

What’s her name?

Eileen
