Holifield ran in the 2011 election for Mississippi House of Representatives District 88 as an Independent. Holifield faced Jonathan Hodge (R) and incumbent Gary Staples (R) in the November 8 general election. Staples defeated Holifield and Hodge in the general election.[1]
