Emily moved to Utah in 2011 because she saw that there a great economic opportunity that was just beginning. During that time she left her career to start a real estate company, that has seen growth year over year for the past 6 years. She understands small business and the economic realities of Utahns through her experience as a business owner, and through her many clients. She became involved in Utah politics in 2016 after finding out her friend was a victim of domestic violence. She has lobbied for new laws that will protect victims of domestic violence and saw that even though the bills she lobbied for would save lives, there wasn't a lot of political will to move these life-saving bills forward. She is running so she can sponsor and vote for impactful bills that will help Utahns lives.
  • I will work to pass bills that will protect victims of domestic violence.
  • I will work to create sustainable affordable housing opportunities.
  • I will work to create policies that protect our air and water.
I am passionate about protecting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our court systems are inherently biased, and without a coordinated effort within the state to educate everyone who interacts with abuse victims on how abusers manipulate, many children end up in the custody of an abusive parent. This has to stop.

Utah prides itself on being a state that puts families first, and I truly believe in that motto, but I do not think we practice what we preach. To put families first we must support families on a fundamental level. We need to make sure that we work towards providing stable and affordable housing, adequate nutrition, and healthcare. Utah has only fulfilled its family-first mission when families' basic needs are being met, and children are able to grow up in a stable environment.

Our social programs should build on each other, and there should never be a time when a person is punished by having all of their safety nets taken away, just because they make $1 too much! We need a graduated program that helps people get off social assistance, rather than one that creates dependency.

Our strategy needs to change from focusing on what's immediately in front of us to creating a long term plan to ensure a healthier future for everyone. I want to invest our taxpayer dollars so we don't have to be dealing with the crisis in the future which ends up being much more costly not only economically but on the heath ad well-being of our communities.
