Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent Glenn Grothman (R) defeated Sarah Lloyd (D) and Jeff Dahlke (I) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Grothman faced no primary challenger, while Lloyd defeated W. Michael Slattery in the Democratic primary on August 9, 2016.[2][3]
