I am a 25-year-old resident of Taylor, Michigan, and a graduate of Central Michigan University. I double majored in political science and public and nonprofit administration to pursue a career of service in my community. This is reflected in my past and current career experiences as I have been a nonprofit development professional for the past 6 years. After graduating, I returned to my hometown of Taylor, Michigan, and was elected to serve on the Taylor School Board. I am in my 4th year serving as a member of the Taylor School board. I have served as president, secretary, and trustee. I have also played a key role in the passage of a 130-million-dollar bond to improve Taylor Schools and have been a leader in creating an innovative and efficient plan for our District’s future.
  • As a candidate running for state representative in Michigan, I am committed to making substantial investments in education to create safer spaces for students and staff. I strongly support career and technical education programs that prepare students for the workforce, as well as college readiness programs that ensure students are prepared for higher education. To address the rising costs of education, I advocate for free community college programs, making higher education accessible to all. Additionally, I believe in investing in our educators and education personnel, ensuring they feel valued and supported in their vital roles.
  • As a candidate running for state representative in Michigan, I am dedicated to making critical healthcare investments. I support expanding the insulin cost cap from seniors to all individuals, ensuring families have access to this life-saving medicine. Lowering prescription costs for seniors is also a priority, especially during these challenging financial times. I advocate for Aging-in-Place initiatives to provide dignity and adequate resources for our aging population. Additionally, I am committed to protecting women's reproductive freedom, ensuring healthcare decisions remain personal and safeguarded.
  • As a candidate running for state representative in Michigan, I am dedicated to environmental sustainability for my generation and future generations. I am committed to keeping global temperatures from rising above 1.5 degrees Celsius. To achieve this, I support transitioning to renewable energy sources, advancing the adoption of electric vehicles, and enforcing industry regulations to ensure corporate responsibility in climate efforts. I believe in holding polluters accountable for environmental damages and prioritizing clean water by replacing aging infrastructure and addressing PFAS contamination.
I am personally passionate about education, social, and environmental public policy. I believe that a strong education system is the foundation of a thriving society, and I am committed to creating safe and equitable learning environments for all students. Social justice drives my dedication to policies that reduce inequality and uplift marginalized communities, ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need. My commitment to environmental sustainability motivates me to support initiatives that protect our natural resources and combat climate change for future generations. These passions fuel my drive to create positive change in our community and beyond.
For an elected official, integrity, transparency, and dedication to public service are paramount. Integrity ensures they act ethically and honestly in all decisions. Transparency fosters trust by keeping constituents informed and involved. Dedication to public service means prioritizing the needs and well-being of the community above personal or special interests. These characteristics, combined with empathy, accountability, and a commitment to justice and equity, are essential for effective and principled leadership.
I possess several qualities that I believe would contribute to my success as an officeholder. Firstly, I am dedicated to serving the community with integrity and transparency, ensuring that I prioritize the interests of constituents above all else. Secondly, my ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build consensus allows me to navigate complex issues and achieve bipartisan solutions. Additionally, I bring a strong commitment to social justice and equity, advocating for policies that promote fairness and opportunity for all. Lastly, my background in the nonprofit sector equips me with the knowledge and skills necessary to address community struggles and understandings of needs. Together, these qualities enable me to effectively represent and serve the needs of our community/state as a dedicated and proactive officeholder.
As a state representative in Michigan, the core responsibilities include representing the interests and concerns of constituents, crafting and supporting legislation that benefits the community and state, and ensuring government accountability and transparency. A state representative must advocate for policies that promote economic growth, educational excellence, social equity, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, they must work collaboratively with other lawmakers, stay informed about key issues, and maintain open communication with the public to address their needs effectively.
I believe the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature is one of collaboration, mutual respect, and constructive dialogue. Both branches should work together to address the needs of the people, with the governor providing leadership and vision while the legislature ensures diverse perspectives are represented and rigorously debated. Open communication and a willingness to compromise are essential for crafting effective policies and solving complex issues. By fostering a cooperative environment, the governor and legislature can create balanced, well-informed decisions that benefit all citizens.
Over the next decade, Michigan will face several significant challenges. Among them, ensuring economic growth and job creation while transitioning to a more sustainable, clean energy future will be crucial. Addressing infrastructure needs, including aging roads, bridges, and water systems, is another pressing issue. Additionally, tackling environmental concerns such as water quality, including issues with PFAS contamination, and promoting environmental sustainability will require proactive policies. Education reform to improve outcomes and address disparities will also be a priority. Finally, promoting social equity and addressing systemic inequalities in healthcare, education, and economic opportunities will remain critical challenges for Michigan in the coming years.
Yes, I believe it is beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics. This experience can provide valuable insights into how the legislative process works, familiarity with policy development and implementation, and an understanding of the complexities of governance. It often allows legislators to navigate bureaucratic hurdles more effectively and to build relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and community leaders. Moreover, experience in government or politics can contribute to a deeper understanding of the issues facing the state and help legislators develop informed and thoughtful solutions. While not always a prerequisite, such experience can significantly enhance a legislator's effectiveness in representing their constituents and achieving legislative goals.
Building relationships with fellow legislators is crucial for effective governance. These connections foster collaboration across party lines, facilitate information sharing, and enable coalition building around important policy initiatives. By working together, legislators can better represent their constituents, navigate legislative processes more smoothly, and achieve meaningful legislative outcomes that address the needs of the community.

I believe financial transparency and government accountability are fundamental to maintaining public trust and ensuring effective governance. Elected officials must be open about how taxpayer money is spent, and government operations should be conducted with honesty and integrity. I support policies that require clear reporting of government expenditures, strict oversight to prevent misuse of funds, and accessible public records so citizens can stay informed. Holding officials accountable for their actions is essential for a fair and just society, and I am committed to upholding these principles in my role as a state representative.
