The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 31, 2014. Incumbent Ed Vigil was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Marcy Freeburg was unopposed in the Republican primary. Vigil defeated Freeburg in the general election.[7][8][9][10]
