Following the 2020 presidential election, 64.2% of Marylanders lived in one of the state's six Solid Democratic counties, which voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in every election from 2012 to 2020, and 20.5% lived in one of 13 Solid Republican counties. Overall, Maryland was Solid Democratic, having voted for Barack Obama (D) in 2012, Hillary Clinton (D) in 2016, and Joe Biden (D) in 2020.
