Public Education and Healthcare. We need to bring Michigan back to the forefront of leading the nation when it comes to the quality of education we provide our children and the care we provide our citizens.
Integrity: Elected officials must demonstrate unwavering integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct in their actions and decision-making processes. Integrity builds trust between leaders and the public, fostering confidence in governance.

Accountability: Holding oneself accountable and being transparent about decisions and actions is vital. Elected officials should take responsibility for their choices, prioritize the public good over personal interests, and be answerable to their constituents.

Empathy and Compassion: Understanding the needs, concerns, and experiences of constituents requires empathy and compassion. Elected officials should actively listen to diverse perspectives, empathize with the struggles of individuals, and work towards solutions that benefit the community as a whole.

Leadership: Effective leadership entails inspiring and mobilizing others towards common goals, fostering collaboration, and making difficult decisions when necessary. Elected officials should exhibit strong leadership qualities to guide their constituents through challenges and opportunities.

Commitment to Public Service: Serving the public interest should be the foremost priority of elected officials. Dedication to improving the lives of constituents, advocating for their needs, and working tirelessly to address community issues is essential.

Transparency and Openness: Open communication, accessibility, and transparency are critical for building trust and fostering accountability in government. Elected officials should be forthcoming with information, engage in meaningful dialogue with constituents, and make decisions in a transparent manner.
I believe I am somebody that constituents can trust. I will always emphasize communication and transparency. My constituents also need to know that I will always advocate for the best things for our district. My goal is to make our district and our state prosperous in the immediate and long-term future.
Legislation: Crafting, debating, and voting on bills that address various issues affecting Michigan residents. This involves researching, drafting, and sponsoring legislation to improve the state's laws and policies.

Representation: Serving as the voice of their constituents by understanding their needs, concerns, and priorities. Elected representatives must advocate for their constituents' interests and work to address their needs through legislative action and constituent services.

Collaboration: Working collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders, and other levels of government to advance shared goals and address complex challenges facing the state. Building consensus and finding common ground are essential for effective governance in a legislative body like the Michigan House of Representatives.
I would like to leave a legacy of positive impact and lasting change. It would include championing policies and initiatives that improve the well-being and prosperity of my constituents and the state in general, leaving behind a legacy of progress and opportunity.
The first moment I remember was 9/11. I can still remember the exact seat I was sitting in when the news came on the TV in class.
My very first job was working at a local golf course tending to customers and taking care of the carts. I worked at this job for 2 years and loved every minute of it.
In the ideal scenario, the relationship between the governor and the state legislature resembles a well-orchestrated dance, where each partner played a crucial role in steering the state towards progress and prosperity.

At the heart of this relationship lay collaboration, a shared endeavor to tackle the state's most pressing issues with a united front. Whether it was addressing economic challenges, healthcare reform, or educational initiatives, both the governor and the legislature understand that their cooperation is essential for effective governance.

Communication is the lifeblood of this partnership. Regular meetings, discussions, and updates ensure that both branches of government remain on the same page, fostering transparency and understanding. Through open dialogue, they are able to navigate complex policy matters, negotiate compromises, and ultimately, enact legislation that reflects the diverse needs of their constituents.

Respect forms the foundation upon which this relationship is built. Both the governor and the legislature recognize the importance of honoring each other's authority and responsibilities. While they may have held differing viewpoints at times, they approach their interactions with civility and professionalism, mindful of the greater good they are striving to achieve.

Accountability is the guiding principle that keeps this partnership in check. Both branches of government hold each other to high standards of integrity and ethics, ensuring that they remain accountable to the people they serve. Through oversight and transparency, they work to earn and maintain the trust of their constituents, knowing that their actions carry significant weight in shaping the future of the state.
Economic Diversification: Michigan's economy has long been reliant on manufacturing, particularly in the automotive industry. However, the state must adapt to changing global trends and diversify its economy to remain competitive in the 21st century. This involves investing in emerging industries such as energy, advanced manufacturing, technology, and healthcare while supporting small businesses and entrepreneurship.

Infrastructure Investment: Michigan's infrastructure, including roads, bridges, water systems, and public transportation, is in need of significant investment and modernization. Aging infrastructure not only poses safety risks but also hinders economic development and reduces quality of life for residents. Addressing this challenge requires robust funding mechanisms, strategic planning, and innovative solutions to upgrade and maintain critical infrastructure assets.

Education Reform: Improving educational outcomes and closing achievement gaps remain persistent challenges in Michigan. The state must invest in early childhood education, support K-12 schools, and enhance access to higher education and vocational training to prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving economy. Additionally, addressing disparities in educational opportunities and outcomes among different communities is essential for fostering equitable access to quality education.

Environmental Sustainability: Michigan faces environmental challenges such as pollution, climate change, and water quality issues. Protecting natural resources and mitigating the impacts of climate change are critical priorities for the state. Implementing sustainable practices and policies that prioritize environmental conservation and public health is essential for safeguarding Michigan's natural heritage for future generations.
While previous experience in government or politics can certainly be beneficial for state legislators, I believe that it is not always necessary and that an outsider's perspective can often bring about real change. While seasoned politicians may have a deep understanding of the legislative process and established networks within government, they may also be entrenched in the status quo and resistant to change.

On the other hand, individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences outside of politics can offer fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a willingness to challenge the conventional wisdom. They may bring valuable expertise from other fields such as business, education, healthcare, or community organizing, which can enrich legislative debates and inform policy decisions.

Moreover, outsiders may be less beholden to special interests or party politics, allowing them to prioritize the needs and interests of their constituents above all else. They may approach governance with a sense of independence and authenticity, unencumbered by the pressures of political affiliations or insider politics.

That being said, a balance between experienced legislators and newcomers is ideal for effective governance. While newcomers can bring fresh ideas and perspectives, experienced legislators can provide valuable institutional knowledge and mentorship to help navigate the complexities of government. By fostering diversity and inclusivity in legislative bodies, we can ensure that all voices are heard and that the best ideas rise to the surface, regardless of political experience.
Yes, building relationships with other legislators is highly beneficial for effective governance and achieving legislative goals. These relationships foster collaboration, cooperation, and bipartisan efforts, which are essential for addressing complex issues and enacting meaningful legislation.

Building relationships with other legislators promotes collaboration. By developing personal connections and rapport with colleagues, lawmakers can work together more effectively to find common ground, negotiate compromises, and advance shared priorities. Collaboration enables legislators to pool their resources, expertise, and perspectives, leading to more well-rounded and impactful legislative outcomes.

Relationships with other legislators facilitate bipartisan efforts. In today's politically polarized climate, bipartisan cooperation is critical for overcoming gridlock and achieving legislative success. Building positive relationships across party lines allows lawmakers to bridge ideological divides, build trust, and work together on issues of mutual concern. Bipartisanship enhances the legitimacy of legislative actions and increases public confidence in government.

Building relationships with other legislators promote information sharing and learning. Through regular interaction and dialogue with colleagues, lawmakers gain insights into different perspectives, understand the nuances of complex policy issues, and stay informed about legislative developments. Information sharing fosters a more informed and deliberative decision-making process, leading to better policy outcomes.

Moreover, building relationships with other legislators strengthens coalition-building efforts. By forming alliances with like-minded colleagues, lawmakers can amplify their voices, increase their influence, and build momentum for their legislative priorities. Coalitions enable legislators to leverage collective resources and support, enhancing their ability to advance shared goals and objectives
Another notable moderate Republican from Michigan is former Governor William Milliken. Serving as Michigan's governor from 1969 to 1983, Milliken was known for his bipartisan approach to governance and his commitment to environmental conservation and civil rights.

Milliken advocated for policies that promoted economic development while also protecting Michigan's natural resources. He played a key role in establishing the Michigan Environmental Protection Act and was a staunch advocate for conservation efforts, earning him praise from environmentalists and conservationists.

In addition to his environmental initiatives, Milliken prioritized civil rights and social justice, supporting measures to combat discrimination and promote equality for all Michigan residents. He worked across party lines to advance civil rights legislation and was known for his inclusive leadership style.

Milliken's legacy as a moderate Republican leader in Michigan continues to inspire politicians and citizens alike. His commitment to bipartisanship, environmental stewardship, and civil rights serves as a model for effective and principled governance.
While I'm dedicated to serving the people of district 36 to the best of my ability, I also recognize that running for a different political office could be an option in the future. My focus, however, remains firmly on representing the needs and interests of the constituents in district 36. It's essential to prioritize the responsibilities entrusted to me by the people who have placed their trust in my leadership. Should the opportunity arise to serve in a different capacity, I would carefully consider it, always with the goal of continuing to advocate for the well-being and prosperity of the community I am honored to represent.
The issue of oversight and granting emergency powers involves a delicate balance between ensuring effective crisis response and upholding democratic principles.

I am an advocate for a system of checks and balances that ensures accountability while allowing for swift action during emergencies. I recognize the importance of executive authority in responding to crises but also emphasize the need for legislative oversight to prevent potential abuses of power.

While the executive branch should have the authority to take immediate action in emergencies, such powers should be subject to legislative review and approval. This could involve establishing clear criteria for declaring emergencies, defining the scope and duration of emergency powers, and requiring regular updates and consultations with the legislature.

I believe there need to be mechanisms to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of emergency powers, such as reporting requirements, sunset provisions, and opportunities for judicial review. There needs to be an emphasis on the importance of bipartisan cooperation and collaboration between the executive and legislative branches to ensure that emergency responses are effective, responsible, and in the best interests of the public.
I would introduce a bill centered around education.

This bill would aim to address the growing demand for skilled workers in Michigan's economy by enhancing vocational education opportunities for high school students and adults. It would allocate funding for the development and expansion of vocational training programs in key industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, and skilled trades.

Key provisions of the bill could include:

Increasing funding for career and technical education (CTE) programs in high schools to provide students with hands-on training and industry-recognized certifications in fields with high demand for skilled workers.

Establishing partnerships between schools, businesses, and community colleges to create apprenticeship and internship opportunities for students to gain practical experience and transition smoothly into the workforce.

Providing grants or tax incentives to businesses that offer on-the-job training programs and mentorship opportunities for individuals seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce.

Investing in infrastructure and equipment upgrades for vocational training facilities to ensure that they are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources to support hands-on learning.

Implementing career counseling and guidance services to help students and adults explore career pathways, identify their skills and interests, and make informed decisions about their education and training options.

By prioritizing vocational education and workforce development, this bill would support economic growth, reduce unemployment, and empower individuals to pursue rewarding careers in high-demand fields.
As a Moderate Republican and having a background in education, I am deeply interested in serving on the Agriculture, Education, and Technology committees for several reasons that align with both my personal values and my commitment to effective governance.

Firstly, agriculture is the backbone of our district's economy and plays a vital role in sustaining rural communities and ensuring food security for all Michiganders and Americans. As a member of the Agriculture Committee, I am passionate about supporting policies that promote innovation, sustainability, and prosperity in the agricultural sector. This includes advocating for initiatives that help farmers and ranchers thrive, such as expanding access to markets, investing in rural infrastructure, and fostering agricultural research and development.

Secondly, education is the cornerstone of opportunity and economic mobility. As an educator myself, I understand the transformative power of education and the importance of providing every child with access to high-quality learning experiences. Serving on the Education Committee allows me to champion policies that support student success, empower educators, and strengthen our education system as a whole. This includes advocating for increased funding for public schools, promoting school choice and innovation, and addressing disparities in educational outcomes.

Lastly, technology is rapidly transforming our world and driving innovation across every sector of the economy. As a member of the Technology Committee, I am excited to explore ways to harness the power of technology to improve government efficiency, expand access to broadband in rural areas, and foster economic growth through innovation and entrepreneurship. Additionally, I am committed to addressing issues related to data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital inclusion to ensure that all Americans can benefit from the opportunities afforded by the digital age.
As a Moderate Republican, I believe in the principles of financial transparency and government accountability as essential pillars of effective governance. Transparency in government spending and financial operations is crucial for fostering trust and confidence among taxpayers, ensuring that their hard-earned dollars are being used wisely and responsibly.

I advocate for policies that promote greater transparency in budgeting, procurement, and financial reporting at all levels of government. This includes implementing measures such as open budget portals, comprehensive financial disclosure requirements, and regular audits to enhance visibility into how taxpayer funds are allocated and managed.

Furthermore, I believe in holding government officials accountable for their actions and decisions. Elected representatives and public servants must be held to the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity. This means enforcing strict ethics laws, establishing mechanisms for reporting and investigating misconduct, and imposing consequences for breaches of public trust.

Ultimately, by prioritizing financial transparency and government accountability, we can strengthen the integrity of our democratic institutions, promote fiscal responsibility, and ensure that government remains accountable to the people it serves. These principles are essential for building a government that is efficient, effective, and responsive to the needs of all citizens.
