Biography
Tecoy Porter was born in Kansas City, Kansas, and went on to live in Elk Grove, California. Porter graduated from California State University Sacramento in 1993 and went on to complete a graduate degree in 1996. He received a Ph.D. from Regent University in 2013. Porter's professional experience includes working as a pastor and founding the Sacramento Chapter of the National Action Network. He has also been affiliated with NAACP and CA Democratic Black Caucus.[1]

|Through his activism, Rev. Porter has stood on the frontlines demanding social justice reform, greater inclusion, and equal opportunities for all. Rev. Porter has supported federal and statewide legislation addressing police reform and school choice. He has also advocated removing laws that sustain systemic racism to address the inequities found in our health and educational systems.
Rev. Porter sees his run for State Senate as an opportunity to bring his 22 years of public service experience to the upper house of California's legislature.

- Tackle homelessness. We need to do all that we can to address this in affordable housing, job development, and ensuring livable wages.
- Equity and inclusion in education. All children should have the right to quality education in CA.
