James Wolf (Florida)
James R. "Jim" Wolf is a former judge on the Florida First District Court of Appeal. He served on the court from 1990 to 2020. Wolf was first appointed to the court by Republican Governor Bob Martinez in 1990. He retired from the bench on June 30, 2020.[1]
From 2003 to 2005, Wolf served as the court's chief judge.[2]
Education
Wolf earned his A.B. in political science from Rutgers University in 1972. He received his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1975 and his LL.M. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2001.[2]
Career
In 1975, Wolf began his legal career as an assistant state attorney for the 15th Florida Judicial Circuit. He was an assistant city attorney for the City of West Palm Beach from 1978 to 1980. He served as city attorney for Jupiter Inlet Colony from 1981 to 1983. Between 1980 and 1983, he also served as Code Enforcement Board attorney for West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach, and practiced law with the firm Caldwell, Pacetti, Barrow & Salisbury. From 1983 to 1991, Wolf was general counsel for the Florida League of Cities. Wolf was appointed to the First District Court of Appeal in 1990 and served as chief judge from 2003 to 2005.[2]
