Louisiana holds partisan judicial elections. In 2014, a total of 322 judicial candidates ran, including 187 incumbents, of whom five were defeated by challengers.
District judge Scott Crichton ran unopposed for a seat on the Louisiana Supreme Court. The only newly elected judge to the Louisiana Courts of Appeal was D. Kent Savoie, who defeated Jamie Yelverton in the Republican primary.
