A lifelong resident of Michigan, I've worked since the age of 11, and now I want to serve as your next Representative for the Michigan 83rd District! Growing up in a union home, I've been married for nearly 30 years to an industrial electrician, who apprenticed through a union program. We have two adult children pursuing their careers. A graduated from Port Huron Northern, attended SC4 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Detroit. I've worked in local health care administration. I also started and ran a successful business for nearly 10 years. In addition to an active career, I've served on many local board and committees. For the past six years, I've been committed to a career in government relations for a national healthcare system, working daily on policy and regulatory issues impacting the delivery of health care across the nation. Although I'm no politician, I do know how good policies are made and what can go wrong when bad policies are enacted. I also know how to work in a bipartisan and I can bring success to the Michigan 83rd by working collectively with you, the residents of the district as well as policymakers in Lansing.
  • Healthy Families: The health of the family unit is the expression of success across our region. I'm dedicated to ensuring that families have the tools and resources they need to stay healthy, that includes access to affordable health care coverage and services
  • Healthy Communities: In the midst of a global pandemic, we must find a way to keep our communities healthy if we plan to have a vibrant and active future. I will work with state and federal leadership to ensure the health and safety of all residents.
  • Healthy Economy: Building healthy economies requires an ability to adapt to the changing world around us. From farming to manufacturing there is exciting innovation as we all work to control climate change. I'll work to bring those innovations and leading industries to the region.
Healthy Families: In 2017, U of M produced a study showcasing the value of the Medicaid Expansion in Michigan, and today that study rings true. It has added another $2.3 B to the state's economy and boosted the state budget. Expanding Medicaid is one of the great successes of the Affordable Care Act. I've worked on various aspects of the ACA since its passage in 2010. It faces its greatest threat as a result of a GOP-based lawsuit that wants to take affordable health care away from YOU, the residents of the 83rd. I'll work to advance that legislation to ensure all residents can continue to receive the benefits of the ACA while correcting the law's flaws to meet the needs of more Michiganders.

Healthy Communities: It's clear the current leadership in the Michigan State Legislature is not dedicated to PROtect the lives and SERVE the residents of Michigan. Instead, they are dedicated to economic gain during a global pandemic. We must find ways to ensure our economy maintains its viability in a SAFE and effective way, so that as many residents as possible will survive this cruelty of COVID-19. I'll work with the current administration to meet the needs of the community while truly being PROlife in the face of a pandemic and well beyond.

Healthy Economies: It's time to bring innovation and manufacturing opportunities through green industry innovation so that we might address and advance our economies and address climate change. This work is vital now. We can no longer wait.
Gerrymandering must be stopped. I voted for the 2018 ballot initiative in Michigan to establish an independent panel to determine Michigan's districts. I look forward to seeing the efforts of their work in 2022.
