  • Public Safety-YES on Prop 36. Repeal Prop 47. Consequences for crime.
  • Improve our Economy- Lower taxes and regulations. Audit tax spending budget. Stop the waste. Voters deserve better than to have the same issues on the ballot over and over and get no results. Accountable results-based help for the homeless. Implement financial interventions to support suffering families to prevent homelessness. Ensure veterans receive their earned benefits.
  • Education - Better schools. Audit education spending to ensure classrooms are funded. Prioritize funding reading, writing, math, scientific method of discovery, civics and the trades. Respect the rights of parents. Rated-G curriculum.
Protecting the innocence and well-being of children: family stability, economy, public safety, protecting food and water, labeling toxins, improving education, supporting businesses, jobs, and trades.
Read the book of Esther... and Daniel... and Joseph. We are all called to such a time as this.
Integrity. Patience. Ability to listen to more than one side of an issue with wisdom, discernment, and compassion. Put the needs of others before one's own. Our nation's founding occurred because of people willing to sacrifice their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to defend and protect God-given, and now Constitution-protected freedom. Generations of American military veterans have served our nation faithfully. It is our duty, and the duty of our elected representatives, to respect the sacrifices made and take on that responsibility with sober-minded gravity.
Protect and defend our God-given Constitution-protected freedoms. California does not need endless laws, we need to ask tough questions to ensure that our laws are constitutional, affordable, and necessary. Meet and discuss local needs and support in reasonable and responsible ways possible.
I got my first job at 11 years old. I wanted a brand-new bike. I had been given a re-painted hand-me-down... AGAIN! I heard that kids could make money delivering newspapers and wondered if it was true. I got out the Yellow Pages and dialed the local paper. They transferred me to the Circulation Department and sent a manager to my home. I got the job... but my mom said I had to share with my sister and brother. I was so disappointed because that would slow down my saving up for that bike! But I wanted that job... so I agreed. It turned out to be nice having others to fold the inky papers with at 5AM... and in the rain. We were better teaming up together. Ultimately, we increased our subscriptions and tripled our route that year. And I bought a shiny, blue, Toys-R-Us bike with a basket & bell the following summer.
What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature? Reasonable representation with the people’s best interests first. This is a system of checks and balances.
What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade? Economy. Public Safety. Education. Parent Rights. Taxation. Protecting our water and food.
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics? No - It is the duty and responsibility of every voter to consider the issues and participate in re-dressing government. This government is “of the people, for the people, and by the people.” Term limits are more essential than previous experience.

Lincoln- integrity, perseverance, courage, He lived and died for our liberty.
I am interested in standing to protect our local needs and help people thrive, not just survive.
I do not support the use of Emergency powers in government at this time. It has been abused. It opens too wide of a door to government over-reach. I would like to see the emergency power of the governor and state limited.
I support YES on Prop 36. I would want to repeal Prop 47 and restore consequences for crime. I would initiate a forensic audit on state spending and outcomes. We need to reduce the cost of living by cutting our taxation and restrictions on business to help families. I will work to stop the trafficking of children.

What committees interest you? The people need representation at every committee. I would want to participate in as many as possible. I think it’s wrong that those who do not attend the committees miss hearing public comment. As a school teacher, I want to make our schools better, our budget accountable to voter expectations, businesses thriving, toxins exposed and voters informed, water and food protected, and crime reduced.
100%. The people need to know where our tax money goes and be able to see effective results. People are not fully educated on the laws being passed. Written law should be comprehensible at an 6th or 7th grade reading level. Voting should not be confusing to the majority. We must do better.
I believe in results-based solutions as long as it is constitutional, affordable, and necessary. For that reason, I would support a simple return to paper ballots because paper ballots are verifiable by anyone in a re-count. Voters are also asking for clean voter rolls, voter registration that is verified, proof of identity at the voting booth with no additional costs to the voter.

Tracey was born in Los Angeles County and is no stranger to the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Her grandfather graduated from Los Angeles High School, keeping a ceremonial original brick from the school on his mantle. Her dad was in the first graduating class from Grant High School that opened up in the San Fernando Valley in1959. She's been teaching reading, writing, math and more to LAUSD kids - from kindergarten to third grade - for 24 years. She has also volunteered in communities and schools in South America, Africa and Asia. Tracey earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies from UCLA and a master’s degree in Psychology, with a specialty in Art Therapy, from Philips Graduate Institute. In 2007 she was a finalist for the Los Angeles Music Center BRAVO Award for integrating the Arts into classroom instruction.

Tracey is a boots-on-the ground, highly-qualified LAUSD teacher, ready to serve our kids as our next school board member. She is an independent, common-sense thinker who believes in jumping in to help whenever and wherever there is a problem to solve. She has first-hand experience with our schools’ daily and long-term challenges, both in the classroom and beyond, and can offer effective solutions. She is a positive, practical solution-finder, a team player and a consensus-builder, who is motivated to include the voices of parents, students, school staff and other community stakeholders in the search for positive solutions for the LAUSD.

  • Accountability: The LAUSD school board should be accountable to parents, students, and school staff. As a school board member, I will work to create and implement policies that make sure their voices are heard and their opinions respected. Transparency: LAUSD school board currently conducts meetings that are closed-door and/or inconvenient for parents, school employees, and community stakeholders; this prevents them from participating and providing input into board decisions. As a member of the LAUSD school board, I will work to ensure that meetings are open to the public, recorded, and scheduled at times that are as convenient as possible for all who wish to participate. Fiscal Responsibility: No wasteful spending; no new taxes or bonds.
  • Back to Basics. I will stand for and vote for policies/spending that is directed toward the objective of kids learning the basic core curriculum starting with reading, writing, and basic math. I will be the voice that says no to issues beyond the scope of the school board. I will put immediate attention on Special Ed to address needs of students placed out-of compliance when transferred online. I value Honors coursework for the challenge/engaging students in learning. I support career readiness: university, vocational, military.
  • Common Sense: I will fight for basic standards of safety on school campuses. Students deserve violence-free schools. We need school police strategically available, while valuing the voices of communities working toward alternate solutions. Funding should directly impact classroom needs. Combat staff shortages by returning our capable, qualified staff to school sites. Attract/increase staff longevity through competitive salaries & benefits. Alleviate teacher burnout by providing space to focus on student needs: grading, lesson plans, growth, & strengthening support systems. Rebuild & heal through engagement in sports, arts, & caring for our community together. Stabilize our schools to attract back our lost 30,000+ students & families.
ACADEMICS FIRST IS PRIORITY in my policy!!! It starts with reading. If you can read, you can learn. This current school board has FAILED our kids! District money needs to be directed at immediate crisis intervention to prevent further failure in reading & math. The data is alarming:

-Fall ‘21 Reading K-5 DIBELS: 54% BELOW or FAR-BELOW benchmark
-Early Literacy: Only 49.1% are meeting literacy Benchmarks in kindergarten- down by 20% from 2018-2019 school year.
-Black Student Achievement Plan success indicators show less than 10% reading & math proficiency in 3rd grade.
-Less than 13% of ELL’s met proficiency requirements on state testing.

LAUSD has a legal and moral obligation to ensure that every student is on track towards reading proficiency & that each child is fully supported in meeting these goals. This holds especially true for our most vulnerable student populations including English Language Learners, students of color, special needs students, foster, and kids in poverty who are at greater risks of dropout.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL NEEDS MET through arts, sports, play, leadership & community togetherness along w/ additional support from trained counselors.

I SUPPORT…
-STUDENTS first, listening to parents & supporting our teachers
-Policy that benefits ALL students
-Timely and most appropriate services for special education students with parent voices heard
-Opportunities for honors & enrichment

-Accountability in accordance w/ the law & stakeholders.
-I know and agree that the school board must answer primarily to parents & taxpayers. I can do it with practical experience & understanding of how policies play out realistically in classrooms. Kids count, too!

-Because I have a strong understanding of how school policy impacts school & classroom functioning... we can cut waste & redundancy, and nonsense professional developments that keep teachers from doing their jobs well, preparing for lessons, grading, or having time to collaborate together... so the teachers are less stressed and have a chance to make good lessons great!
-I believe that most important is keeping kids on track academically.... reading, writing, math!
-I have read and am deepening my understanding of the Constitution, so I can do a terrific job of upholding it. REQUIRED READING.
-I know & standby the PURPOSE of Public Education- Reading, Writing, Math skills that make students more productive & capable as adults. Kids should know the Constitution too, including their rights & the rules of how a government by the people & for the people works.

-I have a heart for kids & families. Integrity. Ability to collaborate. Proactive listening. Positive attitude.
With my 24 years of serving LAUSD students and families from the classroom, my legacy would be:

1. ACADEMIC STAND for kids- in every decision with a lense toward best practices for learning & supportive, accountable follow-through. READING, WRITING, MATH... No nonsense. Family Voices & Family Values.
2. Open Meetings rather than closed meetings! You will know the truth in decision making because I will stand & fight for open meetings rather than closed meetings at more convenient times for families & teachers to attend.
3. I will come to our District 4 campuses. We can handle the situations together in a reasonable way.
4. No to New Taxes or Bonds.
5. Better safety plans that allow School Police back where they are wanted/needed as well as valuing creative problem-solving.
6. Teachers teach & students learn. Academics first. Reading! Writing! Math!

7. Happier kids, parents, teachers, communities.
I got my first job at 11 years old. I wanted a brand-new bike. I had been given a re-painted hand-me-down... AGAIN! I heard that kids could make money delivering newspapers and wondered if it was true. I got out the Yellow Pages and dialed the local paper. Leo the Late Bloomer- I root for the underdogs and love to see them grow and succeed.
This is such an inspiring song/purpose. It came up in conversation with a friend the other day... and has stuck: "Testify to Love" sung by, Wynonna Judd.

Elected officials must swear in & uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of the State of California.

(School Board Leadership, California School Board Association. 2007)
As an experienced classroom teacher and Constitution Coach, you can trust that our Constitutional rights will be upheld if I am elected... because it is the DUTY OF THE TRUSTEES.

"The board has a responsibility to involve the community in appropriate meaningful ways and communicate clear information to the community about district policies, educational programs, fiscal condition and progress on goals. As the only locally elected officials chosen soley to represent the interests of schoolchildren, board members also have a responsibility TO SPEAK OUT ON BEHALF OF THOSE CHILDREN. Board members are advocates for students,.. educational programs, and public education. They build support within their communities ...which "can only be performed by and elected governing body.... authority is granted to the board as a whole" ..."Citizen oversight of local government is the cornerstone of democracy..."
The constituents are first, the students; therefore, the parent voices must be respected and heard. Children are not the property of the state. Parents have to be able to trust the education and care provided by the public school system or they will go elsewhere. The school board is also responsible to taxpayers to ensure that students are receiving an education that prepares them for a productive adulthood.

All have the right to be involved in decisions. First, constituents need to know the issues. Issues may impact their family. They should be informed and included in an update email and invited to share their perspective through both in-person and remote opportunities at convenient times.

Parents, teachers, and community members should have an opportunity to participate in School Board meetings. They should no longer take place during mandatory teacher meetings or when parents are picking up students from school. They should be authentic rather than pre-programmed.
Why was the teacher wearing sunglasses? ...Because her students were soooo bright!!!!!  : )
A-Accountability- I will fight for parents, teachers, and community members to have an opportunity to participate in School Board meetings, parent groups, and discussions. I will fight to CHANGE & OPEN the closed board meetings! I will CHANGE THE TIME so it won't be during mandatory teacher meetings or when parents are picking up students from school. Meetings should be AUTHENTIC rather than pre-programmed or ALREADY DECIDED. I will visit schools, attend staff meetings and parent meetings for feedback on how policies play out, not just seeking a photo-op. for exemptions where needed regarding curriculum, allowing ability to opt out based on principles.

B- Back to Basics- I will fight to get back to the basics, emphasizing reading, writing and math.
Volunteers should be trained and permitted to support on campus, as needed.

C- Common Sense - EVERY CHILD MUST BE VALUED AND RESPECTED. Everyone deserves a safe learning environment, free from violence. In my 24 years, school board members have been ABSENT from school sites they supposedly serve. That needs to change. I plan to be there.
