Mike Edwards was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 120 of the North Carolina House of Representatives.
Biography
Edwards is a native of Graham County, North Carolina. He was raised in a military family during his father’s 30-year career in the United States Air Force. Edwards had a career of 28 years as an educator in NC Public Education, serving in Graham and Jackson Counties. He held positions of classroom teacher, middle school principal, high school assistant principal, and finished his career serving as a district office administrator.
He has also served as a Baptist minister since 1984, serving as pastor of four different churches in Graham County. He is presently pastor at Sweetwater Baptist Church in Graham County.
Edwards serves on the Graham County Board of Commissioners as chairman. He serves on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners [NCACC] representing District 17, which includes Haywood, Jackson, Swain, Macon, Clay, Graham, and Cherokee Counties. As chairman of the Graham County Board of Commissioners, Edwards is on the Board of Directors of the Smoky Mountain Center and the Southwest Commission.

- Undergraduate: BSEd. Began at the University of Maryland completed at Western Carolina University.
- Graduate: MAEd, and Public School Administration at Western Carolina University.
Elections
2012
Edwards ran in the 2012 election for North Carolina House of Representatives District 120. He lost to incumbent Roger West in the Republican primary on May 8, 2012.[1][2][3]

Edwards has been married to Sharon Cable Edwards of the Stecoah Community of Graham County for 39 years. He and Sharon have three adult children, Desire’ Edwards Carter of Greensboro, NC, Robert Edwards of Franklin, NC, and Janine Edwards of Robbinsville, NC.
