2016

Shallal's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[9]

Marriage and family

It all starts with the family. We must fight the sense of entitlement. As Americans we are privileged to live in the greatest country in the world, so let’s teach our children that there was a reason for our greatness. It was the ambitious, hard-working patriots who were determined to being the best at everything. Successful societies start with the smallest unit -- a successful family. I believe that a traditional family is the ideal environment to raise morally healthy children. I am also 100 percent Right To Life.[10]

Jobs

Michigan's economy has experienced turbulence over the past fifteen years. Smart economic policies will keep our families and small businesses here in Michigan. Adding new jobs, offering tax breaks to startup and small businesses and easing regulations should be among our top priorities. As the founder & CEO of my own business, I speak from experience.[10]

Education

Being a college graduate and a father of two elementary school students in our Utica Community Schools, I greatly value the education system in our community. Education is a fundamental building block and foundation in every person’s life. Proper funding for schools is essential.

We also need affordable tuition for students who come from working families, in line with the increased burden of cost of living. We must also empower teachers, compete with smart nations by enhancing our curriculum and teaching methods. Additionally, we must raise our education standards making it appealing for our future generations to remain in Michigan and not leave to further their education elsewhere.[10]

Constitutional Rights

Our Constitution was written based on Judeo-Christian principles. I will work hard to protect those principles and fight hard for our rights as they were given to us by our Founding Fathers. As a life member of the National Rifle Association, I will protect our right to bear arms. Guns in the hands of the good guys keep the bad guys away. Enough with the hypocrisy about putting guns in the hands of the government while taking it away from law-abiding citizens. Gun control should mean collecting illegal guns from criminals.[10]
