I am a regular guy, I don't own a business or have any political connections.

I got involved in politics because my entire life I have heard others say they always have to "pick the lesser of two evils" when it comes to voting for public office.

I want to be a good choice. Someone that no matter what political party or affiliation you can look at and say, "that's a good choice, I like that guy"

It was a quote from Ghandi that really spoke to me, "be the change you wish to see in the world" and I wish to see honorable, dignified, transparent, accountable, reliable, men and women with integrity running our government.

So I decided to do just that and will do everything I can to be a true leader and representative of the people. To do the right thing, simply because it's the right thing to do.

I am the first openly nerdy candidate to run for office. I enjoy video games and movies. My favorite color is blue and my favorite kind of food are sandwiches.

I want to promote cooperation and unity across all people. I want to help build a better society and government for all people, not just the rich, not just one specific political party, but for every Utahn and every American.

To create a comfortable and secure lifestyle everyone can benefit from without the fear or worry about choosing between food, a home, or life saving medicine.

We can achieve a better future together.

My name is Nikki Ray Pino and there are no string on me.
  • Communication and Interconnectivity between the public and government
  • Improved Healthcare: mental health, insurance, and affordability
  • Public Transportation: increased funding and development
Honestly, I believe we need to do an overhaul of our entire system; Education and healthcare to environmental and economical.

Everything is struggling to have a positive and uplifting effect on people regardless of political affiliation.

I think we need to raise the standards of the type of people we have in office. Hold them accountable for their words and actions.

We need to make the communication more clear and available to the public so they know details of legislation being passed. To give the people an easier way of staying in touch with their representatives and make sure they're doing their jobs.

Increased wages, affordable housing, convenient public transportation, improving criminal law and justice, adjusting law enforcement training, proper gun legislation and gun safety education, renewable energy sources, cleaning air quality, and so much more.

All of these are things that everyone agrees needs fixing and improvements upon.

They're not "radical" or crazy. They are logical, practical, reasonable, and necessary changes to implement if we want to have a better community, society, government, and world as a whole.

We have the potential to achieve great things and all we need to do is set aside our pride and ego, our differences and disagreements, and work together to find common ground so that everyone can benefit from a better life.

That is a hard one to answer because there are many that did good things and said inspiring words.

George Washington was a wise man that created the Cabinet of twelve because he knew no one man could know or do everything on his own.

Abraham Lincoln for obvious reasons.

Jesus Christ and the example he set and the preaching of love and charity.

I am also openly nerdy and there are many fictional characters I find awe and respect for in their accomplishments. I always found myself drawn to heroes.

Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Captain America, Cloud Strife, Malcolm Reynolds, Achilles, Odysseus, and many more.

Many followed a code of honor, self sacrificed, did the right thing because it was the right thing to do, put the greater good above themselves.

Having grown up with these influences made me want to be a good guy, a hero myself. And though I've made mistakes I have done my best to learn from them and improve myself.

And I hope to one day have done a good job that others might look at me and be inspired to do good as well.
There are many influences from media that helped craft my philosophy.

Some cartoons such as Justice League, some movies like Serenity where the government shouldn't experiment on its people.

Books like Farenheit 451 and 1984. Dystopian futures.

Video games likes Final Fantasy 7. A corporation that owns and runs the world as a government.

Aside from those and a few others, really it's more about what is balanced and just. What is the right thing to do for the most amount of people. Because you're not going to make everyone happy, but you can try to help as many as possible. I believe a lot in justice and balance.
Integrity, honor, transparency, accountability, communication.

We have too many leaders that are sexist or racist or prejudice of some kind and it sets a bad example for the people they're leading.

Open minded, humble, wise.

I think we need more average people in positions of leadership. And less business owners, career politicians, rich and powerful.

I have a good work ethic, sense of morals and values, a strategic and analytical mind, open mind, humility, intuition, reading people, understanding of human psychology, a desire to help others and do the right thing, and willingness to put other before myself or put my life on the line for my beliefs and to protect people.
Bringing peace, prosperity, security, freedom, and comfort to the people in the way they act, the things they say, and the policies they fight for.

Balancing a budget, reducing debt, promoting acceptance, handling the state's military men and women making sure they're covered and taken care of for their service, creating a beneficial relationship with other states that cooperates in helping both states, and checking the power of the state legislature.
A higher standard to which we hold future politicians to; a good example of what a leader is and does, a good man that did a good job.

I want to be remembered for helping others and being a true inspiration. To show others a potential future we can all achieve if we work, trust, and respect one another.
I was in 7th grade. I biked 2 miles to school and showed up a few minutes late to everyone watching the twin towers on 9/11
Hollywood Video.

I was 16 and worked there for about a year.
Books are tough because I've read some but I've always been more of a TV or movie goer.

I think the ones I enjoyed the most are: Farenheit 451, Ender's Game, The Odyssey.

They are entertaining, philosophical, make you think, strategize, guess, and leave you questioning the world around you. Some more than others.
That's another tough one.

There are some that I relate to even though they go through horrible experiences and tragedies like, Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7. He and I had a similar childhood and drive to make something of themselves.

Normally you would want to be someone that gets great wealth, beautiful women, respect and admiration, etc. But for me the ones I would want to be are usually suffering and miserable. Which I guess says a lot about me.

Captain America or Superman. I have a strong sense of justice and doing what's right so I would get along well as them.

I've also created my own stories, usually through a movie script or day dream and I wouldn't mind being one or two of them.
It's been a long time since I've has a song stuck in my head I don't remember what it was, mainly I switch and listen to so much music so often nothing has stuck around long enough.

But my favorite songs are more melancholy. Usually something with belief or believing in the song. Something that's positive and negative.

Such as: Mad World and Bittersweet Symphony. Songs like these feel good, right almost. They ring true to that of life. It is full of good and bad. It's not a dream, heaven, or hell. It is what it is and we need to find our way through it however we can.
Depression. Insecurity. Fear of failure. I have experienced isolation and a desire to belong. To seek out meaning or purpose in my life and wondering if I'll ever achieve anything noteworthy.

These are things I'm sure many people struggle with at one point or another in their life.

And they can be overcome.

I pulled myself out of an almost decade long stupor because I am fighting for a cause I believe in and in all honesty feel I have found what I was meant to do.
The governor is the leader and representative of all citizens of the state not just a Republic governor, or a Democrat governor, but a governor for all the people of that state regardless of class, race, political party or gender.

Someone that has good judgement and will make decisions that are for the betterment of the people and not to further their own ego or stack their bank account.

Someone humble enough to admit they made a mistake and learn from it. Confident enough to fight against greed and corruption.

A person that surrounds themselves with those that will question and challenge them and not just "yes" men.

To fight for the weak, poor, down trodden and disenfranchised not for money, business, or profit.

Adaptable and wise to the ever changing landscape that is life. Thinks things through and makes non biased decisions.

It's a big responsibility and people have taken it for granted being a poor example to the people and not putting their needs first.

I would gladly take the weight of the world on my shoulders in order to help those that cannot help themselves.
Transparency and communication.

We have had issues in Utah with our leaders saying one thing and doing another or trying to change or pass legislation without us knowing.

If we can't trust our leaders then we should be able to do something about it.

So being open and honest from the beginning and not being sneaky or shady with our actions and words.
The budget and finances are important. They should have an oversight or ethics committee that double checks where and what funds are doing.

So the governor would make the initial choices where money goes and how much based on the needs and wants of the people. Then after drafting it would hand it over to a committee to make sure there is no embezzlement or wrongdoing going on with money going places it shouldn't be going.

Or to be approved by the House and Senate, available to the public so they can see where their taxes are going.

Definitely need checks and balances to help keep people honest.
Basically, I would use it to overturn anything that infringed on human or civil rights.

There are other things it could be used for should there be some corrupt or bad bill being passed that will do harm to the people.

Such as an increase on a food tax even though most people live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford an increase to their groceries such as what Utah went through last December.

But it shouldn't be a freely used power and can be challenged by the State's Supreme Court.

Again, a desperate need for checks and balances.
Having an ability to stream line the process and red tape of bureaucracy by vetoing something especially if it falls under any civil or human rights infringement I think is important but has to be limited in use and power to keep things balanced.
A sports team like a coach and its players. Or a film set with the director and cast and crew.

Having a clear leader to be the representative of the whole state, to cooperate with the military and other states leaders. While the legislature works on bills and regulations for those within the state.

Cooperating and communicating openly working together as a team to bring everyone together under a single goal or vision.
Utah is a beautiful state with a variety of landscapes and outdoor activities. Every sunset or sunrise is different; clouds, mountains, forests, deserts, all contribute to a collage of colors and visual spectacles that really breed an appreciation for nature.
Bringing a balance between Republicans and Democrats. Trying to find a more purple state of mind than as enemies identified as red or blue.

Decreasing pollution and increasing air quality. It will need to stop certain projects that are making the pollution worse. And start new projects to help reduce pollution.
Because our legislators are pursuing commerce, profit, and economic growth they are throwing the environment to the curbside.

Reducing the influence of corporations and special interests groups through lobbying on our legislation. And striking a balance of separation of church and state.

And a whole slew of other problems.
