I am a 25 year+ US Army veteran, a father, grandfather, husband, and your neighbor. I am running for California State Assembly District 44 in order to bring common sense solutions to California’s problems. As a people’s candidate, I will focus on parental rights, public safety, and small business in our district who feel they have been abandoned...left voiceless...by the majority of California Legislators who have forgotten who they work for. It is time to elect someone who is not a career politician - someone who has managed a budget and who believes that individuals and families should supersede the desires of lobbyists. I have a common sense approach to life, work and especially families.
  • Parental Rights

Parents should have a right to know what is happening in their child’s school and maintain the right to make decisions about their children’s education, which includes:

       • The right to know what is being taught,
       • The right to question policy without fear of repercussions,
       • The right to a transparent school budget and spending,

    • The right to a solid, practical, objective education that focuses on reading, writing, math and the sciences. The teaching of politically or racially subjective perspectives in our public schools that are not age-appropriate costs taxpayers millions and our children's' future access to the job market.
  • Public Safety • The dignity and peace, as well as security, of our citizens should come first, as should our communities, and, ultimately, our Republic, • Complete defunding of our police should never be a consideration. Instead, funding should be allocated according to what best serves our communities. Successful law enforcement involves everyone. I will always be an advocate for our police while, simultaneously, insisting on equal treatment of all citizens. • I believe security at our borders can and must be given priority while upholding our Constitutional defense and protection of human rights.
  • In California we need to have a Balanced Budget: California’s state government must maintain a balanced budget by law, so policymakers need to prioritize spending in areas like education, healthcare, and infrastructure while controlling deficits. Debt Management: Manage state debt carefully to avoid burdening future generations. This includes limiting borrowing and ensuring that debt is used to fund productive investments, such as infrastructure projects that have long-term benefits. Pension Reform: California’s public employee pension system has been under financial strain. Reforms, such as adjusting benefits or requiring increased contributions, could improve long-term fiscal health. Maximize Revenue Sources
My Dad, he is and has always been a hard working person. Always had a common sense approach to solve any family concerns. To this day he remains that way. He accepts people for who they are regardless if he agrees or not. He simply just cares for all.
Integrity and Honesty, Accountability, Humility, Commitment to Bipartisanship and Collaboration, Commitment to Public Service, Vision and Leadership, Empathy, Communication Skills, Courage and Decisiveness, Problem-Solving Ability, Fairness and Justice, Work Ethic and Diligence, Adaptability, and of course Resilience.
I am open-minded, approachable, and ready to engage with others in a meaningful way, which can be really valuable in both personal and professional settings.
One of the primary responsibilities is to represent the interests of their constituents at the local, state, or national level. This includes understanding their needs, addressing concerns, and acting as their voice in government. Officials must engage with diverse perspectives and ensure that the policies they support benefit their entire community, not just a select few.
That I was part of the beginning of a positive change in my community.
I worked for Alert Answering Service as a translator for Pacific Bell Telephone. One year. I had this job as a senior in high school
Good to Great. Because, it emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the right team before setting a direction or strategy for an organization. It aligns with the idea that success starts with assembling a group of capable and well-positioned individuals. Once you have the right people in the right roles, figuring out the path to success becomes much clearer and more achievable. It underscores the value of human capital and strategic team-building as a foundation for growth.
Trying to influence people to just be kind to one another and not to allow political leaders that are bullies to separate us.
The ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature should be rooted in mutual respect, collaboration, and shared accountability. While both branches have distinct roles, they must work together to serve the best interests of the people. This is something we currently lack.

Collaboration and Communication: Regular, open communication between the governor and the legislature is crucial. The governor should work closely with legislators to understand the priorities of their constituencies, and the legislature should respect the governor’s broader state-wide agenda. This ensures balanced decision-making.
Checks and Balances: The governor and legislature must respect each other’s powers, with the governor acting as a check on the legislative branch by having the ability to veto bills, and the legislature holding the governor accountable through oversight, budget controls, and lawmaking.
Problem-Solving: The relationship should focus on solving the state’s challenges, such as the economy, healthcare, and education. The governor sets policy direction, while the legislature works to refine and pass laws that advance those policies.

Bipartisanship: When possible, the governor and the legislature should prioritize bipartisan collaboration to create durable, widely supported policies.
Absolutely not. We need to start using common sense approach to our issues and concerns.
Yes, it is highly beneficial to build relationships with other legislators. Here’s why:

Collaboration and Consensus: Legislative success often depends on gaining support from peers. Building strong relationships fosters collaboration, enabling legislators to find common ground and work across party lines. This can lead to more effective lawmaking and policy development.
Broader Perspectives: Engaging with other legislators allows for the exchange of diverse ideas and perspectives. These relationships provide insight into the needs and concerns of different districts, which can lead to more well-rounded and inclusive policies.
Coalition Building: Many legislative initiatives require a coalition of support to pass. Developing strong relationships makes it easier to form these coalitions, build momentum for initiatives, and gain the necessary votes.
Mentorship and Learning: Experienced legislators can offer valuable guidance to newer members. Building relationships enables mentorship opportunities, which can help legislators navigate the complexities of the legislative process.

Efficiency in Governance: Personal relationships can reduce conflict and gridlock, making it easier to resolve disputes and move bills forward, ultimately contributing to more efficient governance.
No. Throughout the campaign I have said If elected I will only do it for two terms. Then we need to elect someone else with fresh ideas.
The issue of schools keeping a child's transgender identity from their parents is a deeply sensitive and complex topic to me, involving questions of parental rights, child autonomy, and the role of schools in protecting students. It was a very touching and heartbreaking story.

The California Legislature should play a key role in overseeing and granting the use of emergency powers. While emergency powers are essential in times of crisis, such as natural disasters, public health emergencies, or civil unrest, the balance between executive action and legislative oversight is crucial to maintain democratic checks and balances.
A Fiscal Responsibility Bill designed to increase transparency and accountability in government spending will be a powerful tool for ensuring that political leadership cannot hide or misrepresent how public funds are being used. Mandatory Public Disclosure, Require all government spending to be made publicly available in real-time or within a specified short period (e.g., 30 days after funds are spent). This would include a detailed breakdown of expenditures at every level of government, including departments, agencies, and public offices. Accessible Online Database, Independent Auditing and Oversight, Annual Independent Audits, a Legislative Review Board, Criminal Penalties for Concealment and Mandatory Whistleblower Protections. Provide strong legal protections for whistleblowers who report hidden or fraudulent spending, encouraging transparency within government.
Quarterly Financial Reports to the legislature. Justification of emergency spending.
Howard Jarvis tax Association, National Latino Police Officer Association, Craig Huey Association, Former Senator Mike Morell, College Republicans of America, California College Republicans, Los Angeles Young Republicans, CAGOP, LAGOP, SFVCRA, Burbank Republican Party, Glendale Burbank Republican Association

Financial transparency and government accountability are foundational principles for a functioning democracy and a healthy economy. Transparency ensures that the public can see how taxpayer dollars are being used, while accountability holds government officials responsible for their actions. Here are key points on these issues:

Public Trust: Financial transparency fosters public trust in government institutions. When people know where their tax dollars are going and how budgets are allocated, they are more likely to trust that their government is acting in their best interest.
Efficient Use of Resources: Transparent financial practices allow citizens and oversight bodies to monitor whether public funds are being spent efficiently. It helps prevent waste, fraud, and abuse, ensuring that every dollar serves a purpose and maximizes public benefit.
Accountability for Public Officials: Government officials should be held accountable for their decisions, especially in matters of budget allocation and spending. Robust systems for audits, public disclosures, and ethical oversight ensure that leaders cannot misuse their power for personal or political gain.
Corruption Prevention: Transparency is a powerful tool to prevent corruption. When government transactions and decision-making processes are open to scrutiny, it becomes much harder for officials to engage in corrupt activities without being detected.

Public Engagement: A transparent government invites citizen participation. By making financial information accessible, citizens can engage more meaningfully in budgetary discussions and decisions, ensuring that their needs and priorities are represented.
I support changes to the current state ballot initiative process, particularly in ways that would enhance transparency and accountability. The initiative system allows citizens to directly participate in the legislative process, but it can be manipulated by well-funded interest groups.

My name is Tony Rodriguez. I am running for this office because I know it takes non politicians like myself to make a difference. The biggest issue I see that neither side is interested in doing what is best for the many, instead they want to do what is best for specifc groups. I am a firm believer that we all have to reach ACROSS PARTY LINES in order to effectively do what is best for all. Just like any relationship there has to be give an take and compromises must be made. If I am elected I do not want to caucus with any specific party. I want to be the liasion between both major parties and bring some kind of teamwork mentally versus what we have now. This election in the 30th District of California in 2022 is not about left or right, Democrat or Republican, it is about protecting and defending the rights of the People under the Constitution of the United States, and bringing this country back into an era of competition and a dynamic future for the generations who will follow our lead.
  • I am against Critical Race Theory Indoctrination. There should be a law that mandates that this should not be taught. This only fuels the fire and casues more divion. It is about parents deciding what is best for their children, and keeping parental rights intact under the Constitution while holding government to task for poor performance in the classroom.
  • Protecting our First Responders The security, peace, and dignity of our communities and our country depends on our first responders. In an era where the debate is about defunding police, I support increased funding for better training and tools for our men and women in uniform.
  • Protecting our Jobs and Businesses. Especially small businesses, workers comp cost especially in California are extremely high. There is a lot of fraud especially in California. This fraud and high taxes can ruin a small business.
Critical Race Theory Indoctrination/ Parental Rights. Government overeach should be kept at a minimum.

Protecting our Families. I believe that family is our greatest national resource. As a result, we need to do more to defend our families. All families are different. Regardless of how your family is structured - whether you are a man and woman, two men, or two women - our children need family and love. I will work to protect the family regardless of race, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation.
I would have to say my Dad. He has always been a hard worker and has always provided for his family. Wether he enjoyed what he was doing or not he always did what was best for the family.
Common Sense should be number one. Being mindful of and caring for the underprivileged in our society. Prioritizing the growth and well-being of individuals and their communities. Displaying awareness of what is really happening, empathy to all and foresight. Never lose touch with the people that helped you get elected. Be accessible to the stakeholders.
Common Sense and my ability to speak to anyone. Developing others so they can take my place. My ability to think strategically, be innovative, and taking action.
It is about protecting and defending the rights of the People under the Constitution of the United States, and bringing this country back into an era of competition and a dynamic future for the generations who will follow our lead.
That I did the right thing
Alert Answering Service, I worked there for 2 years while in high school. I was a translater we worked under Pacific Bell
Who Moved My Cheese. It just simplifies why people feel fear to change in order to have more success.
The House possesses the authority to impeach federal officials and, in the case of indecisive Electoral College results, to elect a president.
No I believe each term should be 4 years, this gives you the opportunity to make changes.
Term limits should be a requirement for all offices. In my humble opinion no e;ected official should be allowed to have more than 2 terms in office.
A particular family shared their reason why they removed their children from public school. The teacher showing CNN news about possibility of WWIII. A 10 year child should not be exposed to this kind of teaching. The child came home crying because she was afraid of dying. This is not right. This is wrong at all levels.
I really don't have one.
Compromise is what I am running on. If we cannot compromise we will ot achieve greatness again.
