2016
Three of the nine seats on the Watertown School Board were up for at-large general election on April 5, 2016. Incumbents Ron Buchanan and Steve Kauffeld faced challengers Frederick Jandt and Paul VanDenLangenberg in their bids for re-election.[2] Both incumbents were re-elected to additional terms, and VanDenLangenberg won the open seat.[3][4]
The third seat on the ballot was held by Kate Lapin, but she filed noncandidacy papers, which indicated she would not file for re-election. Because she did not run in the election, at least one newcomer was guaranteed to take a seat on the board.[2]
