Matt Commons is a lifelong Hoosier. Born and raised in Warren County, Matt graduated from Seeger High School before enlisting in the United States Army. Matt completed two tours in Afghanistan. During his second tour, Matt was wounded in combat which resulted in him receiving a Purple Heart.
  • Local Community Control: State and national policies should not be pushed onto rural Hoosiers without the input of our local communities. Our community leaders, not Indianapolis bureaucrats, should decide what is best for us. I will represent the voice of our communities, not lobbyists or interest groups.
  • Constitutional Rights & Freedom: As a veteran and constitutional conservative, I will always defend the Constitution. I will fight to ensure that every Hoosier has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
  • Fiscal Responsibility In the Statehouse: I’ll oppose tax increases and reduce spending by exposing government waste, fraud, and abuse. I’ll work to ensure that Indiana’s economy is in great shape for future generations.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Indiana

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
