Elizabeth Ann Copeland is a judge on the United States Tax Court. On August 3, 2017, President Donald Trump (R) nominated Copeland to a seat on the court.[1][2][3]

Copeland was nominated by President Barack Obama on May 1, 2015, to a seat on the same court. On January 3, 2017, Copeland's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[4][5]

Education

Copeland earned her bachelor's and J.D. from the University of Texas. In 2002, she was board certified in tax law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.[1]

Copeland was nominated by President Donald Trump (R) on August 3, 2017, to a seat on the United States Tax Court vacated by James S. Halpern. Copeland had hearings before the Senate Finance Committee, which reported her nomination favorably. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 28, 2018, to a fifteen-year term.[1][2]

President Barack Obama nominated Copeland to the United States Tax Court on May 1, 2015. On February 4, 2016, hearings were held on Copeland's nomination in the United States Senate Committee on Finance. On April 18, 2016, her nomination was reported out of committee without a printed report. On January 3, 2017, Copeland's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[2]
