Campaign themes

2016

Fish's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

A recent local study by Neilson–Harris stated that good paying jobs are a top priority. Being raised in a union home taught me to appreciate the importance of good paying jobs in a strong economy. As the owner of an environmental consulting firm for over 25 years, my livelihood depends upon those jobs. I will work with local, state and national businesses and agencies to bring high paying jobs and our college and trade school graduates back to our region.

Raising three sons in Indiana public schools, I know how critical it is to adequately fund public education. According to that same survey, education is also very important to our region. Bringing money and respect back to public education will be a primary focus for me.

Indiana has over 2000 bridges deemed structurally deficient and many roads that need immediate repair. Also, bringing dark fiber to our communities is critical to attract high tech businesses for job creation. Both of these infrastructure issues will be a focus of mine.

Finally, we have reached a crisis in our state regarding critical health issues. Sexually transmitted diseases and drug abuse have garnered us unwanted attention. We need to work with law enforcement, the courts, medical community and social services to solve these problems.

Long term investment in our community is critical to understanding our needs. Electing individuals who are committed, experienced and passionate about our region is paramount to bringing Indiana “Back to Business.”[3]
