Thomas M. Harris is a judge of the Illinois 4th District Appellate Court. He assumed office in 2013. His current term ends on December 3, 2028.
Harris (Republican Party) ran for re-election for judge of the Illinois 4th District Appellate Court. He won in the general election on November 6, 2018.
In 2008, Harris was elected a resident judge on the Eleventh Circuit.[1] He was assigned to the Fourth District Appellate Court at the end of 2012.[1] He was retained in 2014 for a term on the Eleventh Circuit that would have expired on December 6, 2020.[2]
Although Harris was first appointed to the appellate court in 2013, he ran for and won election based on a specific vacancy in 2018, triggering the start of a 10-year term.[3]
Biography
Thomas Harris Jr. earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and his law degree from the University of Colorado. Harris' career experience includes serving as a civil trial lawyer. He was elected resident circuit judge of Logan County in 2008.[4]

Harris was retained to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court with 84.9 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014.He ran for retention to serve a six-year term of the circuit court judges although he was assigned to the appellate court.[2]
Evaluations
The Illinois State Bar Association and participating attorneys rated Thomas M. Harris Jr. as Recommended for retention in a 2014 poll.[5]

Harris was elected as a resident judge for the Eleventh Circuit.[1]
