2017

Lazare's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education

  • Jill remembers when teachers, parents, and children worked together in a nurturing environment for the benefit of all of our children. That cannot happen when teachers and other school personnel are being attacked by our governor as Christie has for the last 8 years. Teachers are the cornerstone of a better future for our children and have been underappreciated and under compensated for many years. For this they should be celebrated, not attacked. This must change and in Trenton Jill will work to take politics out of our schools and put our children first.

Fair & Equitable Tax System

  • We need a fair tax system that allows for small business growth and for people of the state to afford to retire here. Jill understands that approaching our property tax crisis demands approaches like expanding shared services and dedicated property tax relief from the state.

Common Sense Gun Control

  • Jill understands we need tougher gun safety laws designed to regulate ammunition and more carefully screen potential gun owners to keep guns out of the hands of people who have a criminal record, a history of mental illness, or are on the no fly lists. In Trenton, Jill will work to make our neighborhoods safer from gun violence.

A Living Wage

  • Too many working-class families rely on minimum wage jobs. It is impossible to survive on $8.44 an hour. Jill will fight in Trenton to create a real living wage, acknowledging that $15 an hour is only a stepping stone to reaching that goal.[16]
—Jill Lazare[17]

2013

Lazare's campaign website highlighted the following campaign themes:[18]

  • Education:
Excerpt: "Jill LaZare believes that in order to give each child the best possible education, New Jersey needs to increase school choice for parents with children trapped in failing schools. However, Jill understands that education funding is multifaceted, and believes now is the time for Trenton to study alternative revenue streams, as well as tax providing credits for military families, and scholarships targeted for parents with special needs children."
  • Environment:
Excerpt: "Jill is opposed to hydraulic fracturing for natural gas exploration and production, and supports creating tax incentives for the purchase of electric or plug in hybrid vehicles."
  • Fair & Equitable Tax System
  • Families First:
Excerpt: "Jill believes its time for New Jersey to raise the minimum wage and create jobs by putting people back to work repairing and modernizing our crumbling infrastructure."
  • Gun Control Legislative Policy Proposals:
Excerpt: "Jill LaZare believes we need tougher gun safety measure designed to regulate ammunition, reduce gun ownership, strengthen our neighborhoods, and repeal unnecessary gun laws."
  • Hurricane Sandy:
Excerpt: "In the Assembly, Jill will take a smart rebuilding approach to reconstructing our state after Hurricane Sandy. A smart approach means investing in our aging, crumbling infrastructure, implementing a comprehensive coastal management plan, mandating reform of the utility company, and taking proactive steps to protect power stations, homes and businesses from dangerous weather conditions."
  • Property Taxes:
Excerpt: "Jill understands that approaching our property tax crisis demands new approaches like shared services, locally imposed taxes dedicated property tax relief, and capping user fees, which further squeeze New Jersey families."
  • Transportation:
Excerpt: "In the Assembly, Jill LaZare will target initiatives designed to make public transportation more accessible, increase investments to mass transit, bring additional convenience to commuters and to adopt smart land use principles to the development of New Jersey Transit owned property."
