Midterm Election Countdown: "Rematches"

Voters in several states may get a sense of déjà vu while voting in the November midterms. Ballotpedia has highlighted 37 elections that feature a rematch between candidates. Found in congressional, judicial, state executive, state legislative and school board elections, these races are spread throughout 17 states.
Congressional
The highlights
Incumbent Ron Barber (D) will again face Martha McSally (R) in the general election. The two were separated by only 0.8 percent of the vote in 2012. McSally won the Republican primary with 69.4 percent of the vote. The 2012 race was too close to call for over a week after the election took place.[1]
Incumbent Carol Shea-Porter (D) was first elected in 2006, but lost to Frank Guinta (R) in 2010 and regained her seat in the 2012 election, where she defeated Guinta by a 3.8 percent margin of victory. The two face off for a third time this November.[2][3]

State executive
The highlights
Governor of Connecticut Dan Malloy (D) won the governorship in November 2010 following a hard-fought general election campaign against Republican Tom Foley, a wealthy businessman and former U.S. ambassador to Ireland under former President George W. Bush. The contest ended over a week after the general election took place. There were several reversed calls on the outcome of the race before Malloy finally emerged as the victor. Polls show a close rematch in 2014.[4]

The highlights
District 24: Incumbent Elizabeth L. Thomson (D) will face former house member Conrad James (R) in the general election. Thomson won the general election by a margin of victory of 2 percent, less than 300 votes, in 2012.
School boards
The highlights
Norma J.F. Harrison faces incumbents Josh Daniels and Karen Hemphill for the third time this November.
Debra Vinson faces incumbents Gary Hack and Joy Motts also for the third time this November.
Incumbent Hazel McCrea-Sias will face Matthew Washington in a rematch of a 2014 special election primary.
