I'm a United States Navy veteran, a NCSU alumnus, a husband, a father, and a hard-working member of the community.

I've spent 20 years working in the nuclear industry first in the United States Navy and now at Duke Energy's Harris Nuclear Plant where I am employed as a Radiation Protection Senior Scientist. Along the way, I've worked to protect the environment holding waste and drinking water licenses.

I know what it takes to do big things, and to do them in an environmentally and financially sustainable way.
  • No road in NC should have a toll.
  • Climate change is a crisis that requires action at every level of government.
  • It is far past time to legalize and regulate cannabis.
Energy and the environment. I've spent my whole adult life working in the utility sector, the bulk of it in the nuclear industry. I'm proud to have worked in the largest carbon-free energy source we have. I've also worked to protect our public water working in wastewater treatment and holding drinking and wastewater treatment operator certifications.
I take inspiration from many people. For integrity and grit, Adm. Rickover who founded the nuclear navy is a great example. For public service, Ben Franklin is one among many that have inspired me.
The space shuttle Challenger disaster. I was 6 years old and watched it live on TV in my 1st grade classroom in Hancock Elementary School in Gastonia, NC.
Bagging groceries at the Winn-Dixie at Aker's Center in Gastonia. I came home from school and my grandmother told me I had a job and would start on Saturday. That was 1994 and I was 15. I worked there for 5 months before taking a job at Chilis as a table busser as it paid better, but I had to wait until I was 16 before I was legally able to work in a restaurant that served alcohol.

Sadly, the base wage I made in 1994 is the same that tipped employees get today, $2.13/hr.
The Foundation series by Asimov. The scope and scale along with the interesting take on human psychology.
Yes, otherwise nothing happens. We're all idiosyncratic in our beliefs. No two people will agree upon everything.

That said, some things cannot be compromised away. Principled stands are necessary, but they have to be chosen carefully.
