Voters in the Midland Independent School District, which is located in Midland County in western Texas rejected $165.22 million in bonds in 2002. The district placed three separate propositions on the ballot, but all were defeated.[1]

Proposition 1 sought over $90.09 million for secondary schools and saw the narrowest margin of defeat, with 53.03 percent of voters against the measure. Proposition 2 sought over $30.05 million for performing arts and athletics and saw the largest margin of defeat, with 58.65 percent of voters against the measure. Proposition 3 sought over $45.06 million for additions to the Midland and Lee high schools; 57.50 percent of voters opposed that measure.[1]
