I love my God, my family, my country. I believe that life is a right which begins at conception. People have the inherent right to defend themselves, their families and property from all encroachments. Government's role does not include micromanaging the lives of the people. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

I started State service with the Department of Safety and enlisted in the New Hampshire Air National Guard. I transferred to the Attorney General's Drug Task Force and, when they downsized, I tried starting my own business. I discovered that I am not an entrepreneur, but I learned about the issues that face small businesses Currently, I serve as President of my community's Board of Directors; am a member of the advisory committee for the ROC (Resident Owned Communities) Association; volunteer with the Crisis Center of Central New Hampshire and am an active member of my local Church.

  • I believe that one of the responsibilities of government is to preserve the integrity of our US and State Constitutions, the political infrastructures upon which we were founded. Past legislators have attempted amendments that would create broad-based taxes, which I heartily oppose, as well as other changes which would make us unrecognizable as the "Live Free or Die" State.
  • Our children deserve the very best education that can be provided. Thus far our future, our children, has been put in a cookie-cutter mold. When it comes to learning, one size does not fit all, which is why we need school choice.
  • Small business is the backbone of our country. We cannot afford to tax it and regulate it out of existence. We need to provide environments that will allow small businesses to prosper, because when they prosper , we all do.
My particular interests are in the areas of education - how to help our children be the best that they can be.
I'm also passionate about instituting a State budget that is sensible and beneficial to taxpayers, businesses and State agencies.
My Dad. He was a very kind, generous person. He was incredibly wise and patient; he never made anyone feel insignificant. He instilled love of God and country in me. He always listened and encouraged me. He was always there to see me through the rough times and to be happy with me through the good times. He taught me to exercise common sense and to develop the ability to figure out how to do things that seemed daunting. He was a wonderful teacher.
The Bible. It is a political book; it's all about governing, with both good and bad examples.
The most important leadership characteristic in my opinion is to do to others what I would want done to me. Steadiness and determination that can navigate through tough decisions are also necessary to lead wisely. Honesty, dependability, perseverance, openness, trustworthiness, humility and fearlessness.
I have a talent for seeing both sides of an issue. Being logical and analytical, I can get to the core of an issue quickly so as to deal with the cause rather than the symptoms. I have the ability to see the possible long-term effects of decisions. I am a good listener. I'm not afraid of a fight.
Really listening to one's constituents; not just making promises. Working for the good of this State and the people of this State.
I'd like to leave New Hampshire better than when I started; to preserve the liberties that we still enjoy and to restore some of the ones we've lost.
I worked at a summer stock theater; it was a summer job.
I enjoy lots of books, but The Bible is my all-time favorite. "Christy" by Catherine Marshall. C.S. Lewis, Kenneth Roberts, Jane Austin, Dora Saint and Tom Clancey are among my favorite authors; my taste in literature is eclectic.
Really, I'm happy with who I am becoming. If I had to choose and although she's not fictional, I would choose the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31.
Filling out this survey. But seriously, stepping out to run for office.
The House is supposedly more connected to their constituents, whereas the Senate is not so much, due to their respective terms in office - 2 years for the House and 6 years for the Senate. The House also has fiscal responsibilities.
The decline of our cultural values as evidenced by what is going on in this country.
A cordial, respectful working relationship with the goal to advance what is best for the State and her people, without micromanaging.
Yes. All human interactions are based on relationship of some kind or another. The best cooperation comes from relationships that exhibit respect and trustworthiness. As a society, we are all dependent on each other.
The one we currently have. If we adhere to the Federal guidelines, there is no need to change the process.
William Wilberforce. Against all odds, he persevered to abolish slavery and alleviate the suffering of a great many people.
When the properties were assessed, one of the residents pf my community, who is in his 70's, made the statement that he would have to go back to work in order to stay in his home. This should not be. Not everyone is eligible for tax exemptions. Concord tax rates go up by 3% every year. Most people's income does not.
