Autumn Carter's roots are in Indiana, raised in the vibrant city of Indianapolis, she takes immense pride in being a true Hoosier. Autumn has experience working for a prominent law firm, focusing on Public Affairs and collaborating closely with attorneys, lobbyists, and elected Indiana Statehouse officials. Prior to her legal experience, Autumn served as the Finance Director at the Marion County Democratic Party.

Autumn's dedication to public service is evident through her involvement in various impactful roles. She is a graduate of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute. Her political engagement extends to serving as a State Delegate and Vice Precinct Committee Person. Additionally, Autumn took on the crucial role of Diversity and Inclusion Chair for the Indiana Young Democrats, where she has been serving for several years. Currently, she serves on several boards, including the United Negro College Fund Planning Committee, helping to send high school students to college.

As a breast cancer survivor, she passionately advocates for equitable access to healthcare for all, tirelessly working to close the disparity gaps that exist in minority communities. Her tireless efforts have been recognized with numerous awards from 2020 to the present, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in breast cancer advocacy.

Recently, she was honored as the keynote speaker at the American Cancer Society's Discovery Ball, where she eloquently addressed the disparities in health care.

    Community Focused Policing: Advocate for community policing initiatives that foster trust and collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

    Police Accountability Measures: Support legislation to enhance police accountability, and maintain or improve the effectiveness of measures already in place. i.e. body cameras, civilian review boards

    Investment in Crime Prevention: Allocate resources to evidence-based crime prevention programs, including youth mentorship programs, job training initiatives, and substance abuse treatment services.

  • Healthcare Access: Early Detection: Advocate for legislation that will increase the early detection of disease and illnesses. Making sure insurance plans are not a barrier to access such services. Protect Women’s rights: Work to introduce and support legislation to protect women’s rights to healthcare. Whether that’s reproductive rights or working to decrease maternal mortality rates. Mental Health Services: Increase funding for mental health services and substance abuse treatment programs to address the growing mental health crisis and ensure that individuals receive the care and support they need.   • Public Education: Equitable School Funding: Advocate for fair and equitable distribution of funding for public schools, prioritizing resources for schools serving low-income communities and students with special needs. Teacher Support and Professional Development: Support initiatives to attract and retain high-quality teachers by offering competitive salaries, professional development opportunities, and resources to support classroom success. Early Childhood Education: Expand access to affordable early childhood education programs, including pre-kindergarten, to ensure that every child receives a strong foundation for academic success. The public policies that Autumn is personally passionate about concern women's rights, education, public safety, and affordable housing. She is particularly drawn to these policies because they directly address concerns expressed by the district she is seeking to represent.
My favorite book is the Bible because it gives me the strength that I need to accomplish all that I set out to do. It gives me the opportunity to spend time with God and learn more about the characters of the Bible.
