Sookyoung Shin is an associate justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court.[1] She was appointed to this court in July 2016 by Republican Governor Charlie Baker. Her term expires when she reaches the mandatory retirement age of 70.

Education

Shin received her bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1996 and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1999.[2]

Career

Shin practiced law for a year for Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner in Washington, D.C., practicing patent litigation. She then served first as a staff law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and then as a law clerk for Honorable Joel Flaum of that court. In 2003, she began practicing law with the firm of Kirkland & Ellis. From 2005, Shin served as an assistant attorney general in the Administrative Law Division.[2]
