Mary Thomas Sullivan was an associate justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the intermediate appellate court for the state of Massachusetts. She was appointed to this position by Governor Deval Patrick and joined the court on December 9, 2011.[1]
Sullivan retired from the judiciary on August 16, 2023. [2]
Education
Sullivan earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1975. She then worked as an assistant director of girls' services in the Department of Youth Services before attending law school. She earned her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1981.[1]
Career
After law school, Sullivan served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Shane Devine of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire from 1981 to 1983. She then joined the law firm of Segal, Roitman, L.L.P. as an associate. She became a partner in 1991. She remained with the firm until her appointment to the Massachusetts Appeals Court in 2011.[1]
