The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 7, 2014. Incumbent Terry Goodin was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Lisa Seng Shadday defeated Ronald "Ron" Harsin and Joe Van Wye, Sr. in the Republican primary. Goodin defeated Shadday in the general election.[3][4]
