John Robert Blakey is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to joining the court, he was the Chief of the Special Prosecutions Bureau for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. He also served as a special assistant United State's attorney in the Northern District of Illinois. On August 5, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Blakey to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.[1] The United States Senate confirmed Blakey by voice vote on December 16, 2014.[2]

Education

Blakey earned his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He also attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 1989.[1]
