|- First, I will advocate for healthcare that should be affordable and accessible to all people. I feel that every person deserves the opportunity to be healthy and to receive the necessary care and/or medicine without sacrificing basic needs.
- As a retired public school teacher, I strongly support public schools that should provide children with a safe environment to learn how to become responsible, prepared community members. I believe in public education whee diversity and inclusion are respected and supported. Many of us know that teachers are professionals who deserve adequate resources and support systems to best prepare our students for their futures.
- As a young man, I did go hunting with my father. He and I support the Second Amendment. Yet, after he passed away, I saw the rise in school shootings and the use by guns of suicides. It was-apparent that there had to be a new emphasis on ensuring safe and responsible gun ownership. Moreover, some may recall that the federal government did pass a ban on the sale of military-style assault weapons which do not belong in the hands of the general public (nor the "bump" stocks and high-caliber magazines). Red flag laws make common sense to me, and I would sponsor a bill relating to that issue.
