Jay Paterno was a Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor in the 2014 elections.[1]

Paterno was also a potential 2014 Democratic candidate for the U.S. House to represent the 5th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. He ultimately decided not to run for Congress and instead seek election to the position of Lieutenant Governor.[2][3][4]

Paterno is the son of the late ex-Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.[2][3] At the time of his candidacy, he worked as a nonprofit executive and previously worked as a coach under his father.[1]

Paterno ran for election to the office of Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor. Paterno was seeking the Democratic nomination but withdrew before the primary after a legal challenge to his signatures.[1][5]

Paterno considered a run in the 2014 election for the U.S. House to represent Pennsylvania's 5th District.[2][3] He decided against running for Congress and is instead seeking election for the position of Lieutenant Governor.[4]
