Leslie Elaine South

Leslie Elaine South was a judge of the Illinois First District Appellate Court.[1][2]

Education

Judge South received her B.A. degree with honors from Loyola University of Chicago in 1976 and her J.D. degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 1978.

Career

Judge South worked as an assistant prosecutor for the Cook County State's Attorney's office (1978-82).

CTA Association

She worked as a staff attorney for the Chicago Transit Authority from 1984-88.

Illinois Courts

Judge South was appointed Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County on Dec. 8, 1988, and was assigned to the 6th Municipal District in Markham. She was elected Circuit Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County on Nov. 3, 1992, and to the Appellate Court, First District, in November 1996.

Committees

Judge South is chairperson-elect of the Illinois Judicial Council and is a member of the Cook County, Women's and South Suburban Bar Associations and the Illinois Judges' Association.
