R. Peter Grometer
R. Peter Grometer was a judge of the Illinois Second District Appellate Court.
Education and experience
He received his B.A. degree in economics and business from Michigan State University in 1968 and his J.D. degree from the University of Illinois in 1973. He served in the United States Army from 1969 through 1972. Judge Grometer practiced law in the city of Aurora from 1973 to 1985.
Illinois courts
He served as an Associate Judge of the 16th Judicial Circuit from 1985 to 1992 and as a circuit judge from 1992 to 2001, serving as Chief Judge from 1996 to 1998. He was appointed an appellate judge in the Second District Appellate Court in 2001.
Committees and associations
Judge Grometer has served on the Illinois Judicial Conference and was Chairman of the Automation and Technology Committee 1997-1999. He is a member of the Aurora Rotary Club, Past President and Director of the Mental Health and Mental Rehabilitation, Inc., Director of Aurora Juvenile Protective Association, District Governor Boy Scouts of America and a former member of the Board of Education District 129.
