I grew up in the Los Angeles suburbs, one of my favorite things to do was play Army. When I turned 18 I rushed to the Recruitment Center and enlisted in the Army Reserve. I was fortunate to grow up in a three generation household with three older sisters , my parents, and my YiaYia (Greek for grandma). I meet my amazing wife, Danette, at Disneyland in California. In 2003 we were blessed with our beautiful daughter, Athena. I am a full-time Realtor, and a part-time Umpire for youth Base and softball. Currently I serve as Treasurer of my HOA, I serve as Committeeman for my Precinct 206, I serve as a Board Member of a local community theatre, I served as 2nd Vice Commander at a local American Legion post, and now I am ready to serve as your State Representative District 12.
  • Equality for all: It has been 157 years since the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln, yet black Americans still pay taxes without equal representation or access to the American dream. Women are trapped behind the glass door or the glass ceiling not by choice, but by fear. This fear is not experienced by the women, but by the men. I will fight for the LGBTQ+ community. No one should be discriminated against in any way for who they choose to love.
  • Education: Florida schools have the third largest enrollment in the nation when it comes to Pre-k thru 12, yet Florida ranks 42nd in spending. We need to invest more in educating our youth. A quality education is key to securing a better job or career, leading to a financially stable household that feeds directly into our economy.
  • Healthcare: I believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Florida has nearly 3 million uninsured. It is time to expand Medicaid to provide low income families insurance. I will fight on day one for those that struggle over mental health issues, for low income families, and for a woman's right to reproductive health.
Equality: Schools in black communities normally receive less funding than white communities. Black unemployment is higher and the required job training is harder to find within black neighborhoods. Black males are judged more harshly than white males leading to higher numbers of incarcerations. My wife did not go to school earning two degrees only to hide behind the shadow of a man. She earned her degrees so she could be the best version of herself; never having to rely on anyone to provide for her. I will fight to pass the Florida Competitive Workforce Act. This bill will finally ensure that Florida is a safe place to live, work and play for all people.

Education: We need to invest properly in our public school system. For too long our political leaders have looked for the short term fix such as more computers and technology in the classrooms. They push this same narrative every couple of years because it is a quick and easy fix which looks good for getting reelected. I will fight to fund our public school infrastructure so we can build new state of the art green campuses that will save our school districts by reducing energy and repair costs.

Environment: Florida is the Sunshine State, and should be leading the country in solar energy, yet we rank 48th. It's not enough to produce solar energy, but also the production of the systems themselves. Florida's environment can be an asset to our citizens and visitors as well as our economy.
The true core responsibility is to be an open and honest broker, answering to their constituents. The Florida House of Representatives, the office I seek, includes voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes, passing bills on public policy issues, setting levels for Florida's spending, as well as raising and lowering taxes.
I would hope to leave a legacy as an open and honest representative. Many political leaders say, "I hear you!" We can all hear each other, that's the easiest part but, do they listen? I will listen to the people of both sides of the aisle, negotiate and compromise to pass legislation that will move Florida forward in a positive light.

I would also like to leave a legacy where I choose to invest in the long term benefits to our schools, not just the short term fix. I will work hard to bring the infrastructure of the public school system into the 21st century. Building new green campuses that will save our districts money with less expense toward repair and reduced energy costs.
The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. I was 13 years old at the time of this horrible tragedy. I remember our school day had just started and my teacher had requested a t.v. for our room so we could watch the historical event when Christa McAuliffe was to be the first teacher in space. Just over one minute into the launch we witnessed a big puff of smoke and the two solid rocket boosters independently flying in circles. I have watched many shuttle launches and I knew immediately something was wrong. It was a sad day in U.S. history and set our space program back decades.
I hope you dance. By, Lee Ann Womack
The environment is our states greatest challenge. We are, after all, the Sunshine State, and should be leading the country in solar energy, yet we rank 48th. It's not enough to produce solar energy, but also the production of the systems themselves. My family and I enjoy kayaking on Florida's natural waterways and hiking in The Theodore Roosevelt Area at Timucuan Preserve. Florida's environment can be an asset to our citizens and visitors as well as our economy.

Equality is a great challenge facing Florida as well. Politicians say they hear the many voices crying out for equal opportunity and treatment. To date, it has been nothing but empty promises. It is a time to step up and take action. I hear you... I see you... and I will fight with you to end social and racial inequality.

Healthcare is also a major challenge. COVID-19 has opened the eyes of America on the vulnerability of our healthcare system. Corporations use healthcare packages as a way to recruit better talent. That concept has shown its flaws with millions losing their jobs and their medical insurance as well.

I believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Florida has nearly 3 million uninsured. It is time to expand Medicaid to provide low income families insurance. I will fight on day one for those that struggle over mental health issues, for low income families, and for a woman's right to reproductive health. I will fight big pharma and bring down the high costs of prescription drugs.
Yes, I do. The old saying, "United we stand, divided we fall," still reigns true today in our personal and professional lives. Building a bond of unity for a common goal, to serve, is very important to me. I will forge the bonds with fellow Democrats to create a united message and agenda. I will reach across the aisle to Republicans to create lasting relationships so we can have the open dialog needed to effectively pass legislation. Having relationships with other legislatures will end the gridlock in state politics allowing compromise and negotiation back into the process that will move Florida forward into the future.
I believe that creating equal and fair districts are the best way to properly represent the areas population. Gerrymandering creates districts that lean one way on the political spectrum. To me Gerrymandering is a form of deception. With the 2020 Census picking back up, the results will be in during the 2021 year. It is very important to me to review the Census results and to form a district that is as equal in representation.
