Thomas Callum
Thomas E. Callum was a judge of the Illinois Second District Appellate Court.
Legal education and experience
Judge Callum received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, with Honors, in Philosophy from St. Joseph's College in Rennselaer, Indiana, in 1966 and his J.D., with Distinction, from IIT-Chicago Kent College of Law in 1973. He was in the United States Marine Corp from 1967 to 1973; on active duty from 1967-1969, having served in combat in Vietnam. Judge Callum was an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County from 1973-1978 and from 1978-1980 was the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division of the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. From 1980-1986, he was engaged in the general practice of law with the firm of Callum, Anderson and Dietsch in Wheaton, Illinois.
Illinois Courts
In 1986, he was appointed an Associate Judge and in 1994 was appointed as a circuit judge and subsequently elected a circuit judge in 1996. Judge Callum served as Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit from February, 1999 to his appointment in February, 2001 to the Appellate Court of Illinois.
