|- Local control for local prosperity. We need to get back to Indiana and the United States being the laboratory of democracy. We need to get Indianapolis out of our business, out of our schools, and out of our local government, and put power in the hands of local elected officials who know our problems, opportunities, and we can look in the eye and hold accountable.
- Indiana is one of the weakest Home Rule states in the country, meaning that Indianapolis micromanages our business, schools, local government, etc. The results are than Indiana is one of the worst states for new business (45th out of 50), wage growth (46th), for children (50th), etc., while critical industries fell 40% below national average in competitiveness since 2007 – an F. For the facts, see the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, CICP, and America’s Health Rankings. Indiana cannot compete in the 21st century with top-down micromanagement from Indianapolis.
- Forcing minority religious doctrine on Americans is fundamentally anti-American. This year, these so-called Republicans, obsessed with control, passed law to deny women reproductive freedom from the point of fertilization, while also denying women the freedom to get birth control directly from pharmacists, like women have the freedom to do in Arizona, West Virginia, North Carolina, Idaho, etc. My opponent, Tim O’Brien, voted for no exceptions for rape, knowing the real-life case of a 10-year-old, who he would force to carry the child of her rapists – at 10 years old.
Education: The surest investment a state can make is in education, especially teachers. They serve when they know they can make 3 times more in another profession. We must get the toxic politics of the Statehouse out of our schools. Hoosiers can hold our own School Boards accountable. We do not need to be babysat by Indianapolis. Hoosier schools should be the pride of our state.
