Rose H. Sconiers was a judge on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department. She was appointed by Governor Paterson on July 8, 2010 to replace retired Judge Robert Hurlbutt. She served until 2016.[1][2][3]

Education

Judge Sconiers received a political science degree from Long Island University in 1969 and then received her law degree from the State University of New York - Buffalo School of Law in 1973.[4][2]

Career

Judge Sconiers began her career working for the New York Urban Development Corporation’s Rainbow Center Development Corporation in Niagara Falls. She became an assistant Buffalo corporation counsel in 1975 and, from 1980 through 1987, she was the executive attorney in charge of the Buffalo Legal Aid Bureau. She then worked as a Buffalo City Court judge until 1993, when she was elected to the New York Supreme Court 8th Judicial District, effective January of 1994. She was re-elected to a second term on the Supreme Court in 2007.[2][5]
