Norman Epstein
Norman L. Epstein was a justice of the Second District, Division Four of the California Courts of Appeal. He was appointed to this court by former Governor George Deukmejian, taking his oath of office on April 12, 1990. Epstein retired from the bench on August 22, 2018.[1]
Epstein served as presiding justice of Division Four from 2004 to 2018.[2]
Education
Epstein earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1955 and his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1958.[3]
Career
Epstein began his legal career as a deputy attorney general of California in 1959. He was the chief counsel for California State University from 1962 to 1975, when he was appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court by Governor Ronald Reagan. In 1980, Governor Jerry Brown (D) appointed Epstein to the Los Angeles Superior Court. Epstein served on the superior court until his appointment to the California Second District Court of Appeal in 1990.[3][4]
